Wallace is the worst halfback in the NRL... True story!

Re: Round 9 - Eels vs. Broncos - Pre-Match Discussion

Hmmm...

Cooper Cronk
Daly-Cherry Evans
Adam Reynolds?
...Mitch Pearce?
.......Shaun Johnson?
..................................................Chris Sandow?

I can't even come up with 7 and all but two are questionable to me.

Plenty on par with Wallace, but better? I want to see your working out.

That's the joke.

/McBane

Thank god! Lol

Re: Round 9 - Eels vs. Broncos - Pre-Match Discussion

I am getting sick and tired of hearing how ****e Wallace and Prince are

I think a lot of people are getting sick of seeing them in the halves for the Broncos. You'll stop hearing how shit they are when they stop being shit.

Oh, and some consistent creative kicking wouldn't go astray either.

Yeah well that won't happen with dumb and dumber in the halves and mongy Macca with his terrible grubber kicks.

I'm too the point now where I just about hope another club like the cows or something buy macca so half the people on here can get some perspective and realise he isn't this god awful hooker like most of you make out

He's far from being god awful, but he's also far from being top tier either.

Beads, if our halves were as shit as all that, we wouldn't be playing as well as we are. Yes, it's somewhat inconsistent, but IMO, we have given 4 of the top teams a serious run for their money.

I though Wallace organizes the attack pretty well on the left. Our SUPPORT PLAY, or lack of it is much more a worry than Wallace.

Wallace isn't the entire problem either. Years and years of coaching a flat attack is one problem, which makes 2nd man plays tricky, and Norman's ego SUCKS although his timing is getting better when he comes into the line.

Prince IMO was the main catalyst for at least 2 of our best performances in attack.

Where the real problem lies IMO is the dummy half - totally uncreative at best despite solid defence, and a coach who has taken what, 2 years? to get a semblance of an effective left side attack working with the FB at last coming up into the line and, ego explosions aside, passes the ball.

In my view, the middle third is where the creative vacuum is, and dummy half in general, and a coach/club who seemingly doesn't want to do much about it.

Wallace is around the middle of the pack of first grade halfbacks. Not bad but not a superstar. In my opinion he would be as good as Reynolds behind the Souths pack

If we count just the players who wear the 7 jersey, then Wallace isn't too bad. But there's barely any difference between the 6 and the 7 these days, and most clubs have the better half wearing the 6.

The problem with Wallace is that he's exceptionally boring. Kelly, McCrone an Sandow might or might not be better according to some people, but for mine they are all much more exciting.

Granted not every player can be exciting in this era, but when Norman or Hoffman is your fb, Macca is your hooker and Prince is your pivot the lack of entertaining players becomes more noticeable. At least IMO

As entertaining as Sandow can be, he is even more of a liability.
Kelly and McCrone are good running with the ball, but their passing and kicking ability is piss poor.

People seem to be focussed on the flashes of individual brilliance and ignore the rest, regardless of how crap that is.
Look at the Titans against us, where Kelly scored an individually brilliant try, but was otherwise absolutely worthless for his team.

Why is everyone so concerned about 'entertaining players' Benji is 'entertaining' but I don't want him. If you want entertainment go watch a movie, I just want to win FFS

Entertainment is a nice consolation though. The problem with Just win FFS is that Wallace isn't really all that well suited to that goal either. Better than Sandow sure, but nowhere near the level needed to win a premiership.

Why not? We did it with Perry

Sandow is more of a liability than an ability, sure he pulls out some magic from time to time but his organisation is very poor, his defence is non-existent and his kicking game is average. Wallace can organise a team and can play some good game from time to time but he is still better than Sandow.

I don't think Wallace is as bad as BHQ makes out. Sure he is not an elite playmaker but to be fair he does not work with a great spine nor much pace out wide. Being halfback at the storm, souths, manly is an easier job than Wallace has.

With all due respect to all the previous posters and to their opinions but something is really obvious . Namely that none of you could have watched Cronullas Robson. He is a very capable half back and has been steering Cronullas very well. They do not have the superstars of other teams and it seems as though people are assuming he is below standard when that is definitely not the case .

If he played for the Broncos he would already have a good supporter base here on BHQ. Cronullas lacked organisation before last season and most would agree they were much improved last year. He is well rated in the shire. Only my opinion but I actually watch Cronullas games.
