Walters, Tallis tell it as it is

I hope the Cowboys turn around and offer Henry his position back for 2014.

From that Courier article, I'm struggling to find the right words here:

""I don't look into what happens in the press, I try to focus on what I can control," Glenn said. "Gordie is a legend of the club and he knows the foundation and I've just got to respect and take on what he said. It hurts sometimes when he says that we're losing the legacy but he is entitled to his opinion. We've got a lot to improve on. We weren't too successful this year but we are looking forwards. We have to keep getting better and developing as a team." Tallis presented jerseys to the Broncos at a home game several weeks ago and became emotional during his address to the players as he spoke of how much the club meant to him. That struck a nerve with Glenn who now has a clearer idea of the Broncos culture that many believe has eroded in recent years. "He did get emotional because he started talking about what the club means to him. I certainly took it on board," Glenn said. "He is an icon of this club and of the game. The passion he showed for the jersey every time he put it on was a privilege. We need to realise what this jersey means and who has played in the jersey as well."

Coach Anthony Griffin and skipper Sam Thaiday agreed the Broncos were fair game for harsh judgment after their season. Griffin refused to publicly identify the areas he believed the club needed to improve and simply answered "yep" when asked if he was confident the club was moving in the right direction. Thaiday said the playing group would remain committed despite the criticism from former players. "People are going to have their opinions and they’re entitled to that, but Hook said it many times within our four walls at the Broncos," Thaiday said. "We are tight and we will stick tight and do what we have to do. Everyone on the outside can have their opinion and have their say and we will just continue on doing what we’re doing."

Dismayed by Glenn, and disgusted by Thaiday - I think that sums it up.

How can the current batch of younger players NOT understand what it means to wear that jersey?! That is something the club needs to fix immediately. Those guys need to realise what our proud club stands for. Get some passion back FFS!! It is NOT "just football" when you pull on that jersey, boys...not to us fans it's not...

As far as Thaiday's comment, well...it's fucking ridiculous to keep doing the same fucking thing and expect a different result. If he and Griffin think they can keep going the way they are, they've got another thing coming. They might be happy with a bottom 6 finish but I sure as **** aren't and I doubt the hierarchy are either.

does that mean he is likely for the Raiders job

I'd say so, that's his focus. He was interviewed for the Cows job and was a real chance, he's impressed previously coaching there they were certainly keen on him.

Felt like I was being tasered through some of our 'performances' this year :001_tt2:

Kevvie wants to be coach, Steve is renowned for making outlandish comments since he retired. I would only listen to Tallis and Lockyer as far as these comments go. Lockyer may be closer to the inner sanctum than Tallis.
my opinion is Griffin got it wrong with his choice of support staff

and choice of Captain. Also he should ultimately be responsible for how the team performs. If the defensive coach is not cutting it work through it with him. Watch how he coaches them and let him know where he is getting it wrong. I believe this is not happening because Griffin knows less than his support staff.

Marto on TripleM has said Kevvie has signed with the Cowboys for next season.

Maybe we should get Paul Green on board as assistant

I totally agree with these opinions, and I have been fortunate enough to meet Tallis a few times this year through some friends whom now work with him.

He is very passionate about the club as we all know, and him and a long list of other old boys are NOT happy with the direction we are heading, and the club are refusing their help.

Originally, I was livid and agreeing with Gordy when we were discussing this. But, having time to think, I am glad the club is refusing their help.

The old boys have the club's best interest at heart. But so do the old boys at clubs like Parramatta. Short story long, do we really want to end up like such a club?

Our club needs a shake up, but the answer isn't going to people whom have already been here. The club needs to head in a new direction rather than back to the past. I'm almost certain Griffin, Kearney and Gee aren't going to solve our problems (although Homesickness is doing a great job helping them), but on the same note i'm almost certain Walters won't either.
