MATT Cooper will be named in the Dragons team for this Saturday's NRL clash - despite the in-form star being ruled out of the City-Country match to take place just 24 hours before.

The Dragons have confirmed Cooper will this afternoon be picked at centre in the St George Illawarra team to take on the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.

it really is a match that has no reason to be played. all it does is take origin hopefuls and get them injured, as has happened in the past.

and for that reason, i love it! they should do one before every origin match!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see other players pull out of it in future and then ask their club to name them for the weekend so country/city will ban them too.
