After watching the Griffin interview there is no fucking way Gould and Bennett could work together.

If Gould had an issue with Griffin's coaching philosophy he's going to have a similar issue with Bennett... it would be chaos before preseason is over

That’s why I thought this idea was hilarious to begin with. The whole thing with Hook is a ham-fisted gambit to try and keep Nathan Cleary at the Panthers, how would Bennett make a difference in that scenario?

A Bennett -> Rabbitohs rumour makes far more sense.

I suspect Griffin has been hard done by. Whatever you think of his performance at the broncos, he brought through some good players.
It might be argued his game tactics were lacking, but he made a concerted effort to turn penrith around and did.
Why doesn't Gould just coach? Bennet is not a lot different in philosophy to griffin, except he operates around a team structure more so. The thought of replacing griffin with Bennet seems like have a ferrel cat and ferrel dog fighting so replacing the cat with a tiger!

Because he doesn't want to damage the legacy he has created. This way he gets all the credit but none of the blame.

If the team fails - He has nothing to do with the coaching, it is all the coaches fault and he is such a strong man for stepping in and sacking the coach.

If the team does well - Well, we all know that Gould is the real coach there so another win for Gus.
 
The Broncs should sign Smith. Give him a three year deal, who cares if he sees it out because if they have Smith at 9, this side wins the premiership in 2015 and 2018 because he would help make up for the lack of an organising halfback.

With the forwards the Broncs have next year plus enough weapons in the backline, Smith would almost guarantee this side at least makes the GF.

Firstly, what a dumb article. It’s literally just Bennett saying “I don’t hate Gus” and “wow you guys sure make up a lot of bullshit”.

It’s kind of funny that they posted an article in which the media is being called out for talking shit.


Secondly, Bennett would love the pressure this puts on Brisbane to make a decision.
 
CM Badel reporting Bennett and White have had a falling out. Only one will be at Red Hill next year.

Sign for 2 years on relatively cheap then with WB contract extension to 2020 assistant coach or even head coach with WB as mentor. Smith has the tactical nous to offset WB and WB man management would be vital to Smiths development as a coach. Smith can take unders if knows getting a huge job post playing days.

Bit left field but would fix captaincy, leadership and attitude issues pretty within half a season. And get rest of spine into line. Need a young hooker to understudy to takeover longer term ?Knik. Macca released sad given he bleeds for the club but if want to win won’t be with him most likely. And as Storm have shown don’t really need halves (Munster is a 1 or 3 not a half) if Smith running the show. Give us time to find a halfback.

Biggest problem aside from is Smith really going to leave the Storm where he likely has a coach deal already, is how do we pay Smith even if was to take unders. It’s going to have to be a Melbourne deal with brown paper bags and boats unless Boyd or Bird go (Maccas salary and one of them likely a mill a year).

He needs to man up and accept that he is no longer in charge
