MELTDOWN Wayne Bennett - Moves to Souths

Should Wayne Bennett's Contract be Extended?

If Maguire goes to the Tigers and Siebold re-signs with souths and Hasler goes back to manly that soaks up most of the available candidates with recent NRL experience.

I think it only leaves cartwright and barrett neither of whom have been in the frame for the broncos job as far as I know.

It means JD could get the job because he is the last creditable man standing.

I think the Broncos should put the whole thing off until next year as there are a lot of current coaches coming off contract at the end of 2019 and plenty won't get re-appointed so there will be fresh options to consider.

I don't think it is a big deal to wait until sometime next season and see who becomes available after all coaches aren't normally appointed this far in advance.

What about Hook?

Damn you're right Tom how could I forget our man lol

Siebold - even money favourite and job is his if he wants it. Here in 2019.
JD - 5.1 knows our system and maybe wins this by default.
Maguire - 7.1 most likely to go to Tigers I feel unfortunately.
Neil Henry - 12.1 the dark horse of the field and could surprise.
Kearney - 15.1 we could do a lot worse but entrenched at Warriors I believe.
Trent Robinson - 25.1 very highly unlikely but would be the dream appointment of all.
Ol' mate Hook - 50.1 outside chance based on close friendship with Paul White, recent head coaching experience, knows our system well and is generally just a really nice fella.
Tooves - 100.1 highly unlikely, he couldn't stand the pressure.
Kevvie - 1000.1 always the groomsman never the groom.
Matty Elliott - 5000.1 please god no.
Trent Barrett and John Cartwright - you cannot be serious.

It’s a tough one. I like Seibold as well.
But my personal preference would be Kevvie.

I think you're on your own there Joe regarding Kevvie. Haven't seen many others here pushing his case too much. I just think he's a bit 'matey' with the players and he might not be up to making the tough calls when needed.

I didn't see what went on at the club when Kev was around like you though so quite likely I could be wrong with my assumptions. I still think he is no chance though.

So whats the consensus guys, are we expecting a press conference tomorrow to announce the winner?!

I'm expecting a Survivor-like Reality TV show first to help determine who gets it. Likely features:

* A Sydney newspaper declares "Broncos in Crisis" after a fringe first-grader gets caught swearing in public and the footage is uploaded to Instagram. Each contestent must align themselves with a Brisbane-based journalist, and be the first to run a 3-legged race to the finish line, where they must upload a rebuttal to the Courier Mail website.

* Cameron Smith's manager wants an offer from the Broncos. The contestants need to throw knives at coconuts with different $$ figures on them. Whoever hits the coconut with the required $$ figure wins (spoiler, there is no correct dollar figure!).

* Wayne Bennett has left the Broncos and wants to take TPJ with him. Contestants must build a Wayne effigy out of dry sticks and vines, burn it, and fan the flames. The contestant who blows the most smoke in TPJ's direction wins.

* A player has leaked stories of player unrest to their manager, who has in turn threatened to go to the press unless illegal 3rd party payments are made to his player. Contestants must lay a series of rat traps around the camp site, and whoever catches the most rats wins. But be careful, catch any bandicoots (representing innocent players) in the traps and the player unrest becomes worse, eliminating the contestant from the island immediately!

Pretty sure TPJ's smoke needs to smell of BBQ Ribs though.

@Nashy to be the secret contestant that gets added half way through the season. Promptly douses his effigy in sticky rib sauce before lighting it up. Is that a dried, herb-like substance thrown in too? It must be, TPJ is hungrier than ever!

Mate. Mate. Come on. I don't have dry herbs in my baking.

So it’ll look just like the real ol’ Wayne then.
