What's Happened? Why the massive turnaround?

Something's happened to the Broncos. For mine, we are looking top 4 material. A few matches ago, it was time for people to go, sack the coach, sack players then ... a great comeback v Storm, and good wins v Titans and Cowboys, and not such a bad loss to the Roosters who i think will join us in the top 4 with Manly and the Storm.

What's happened?

We finally seem to have a FB who has the right instincts for his best (and only) position, and Hook seems to have got the team to realize that passing the ball to support runners = tries, and the rest seems to be falling into place nicely. Dominant forwards, great defence.

Now, is all we need some more depth and ball to our right hand side attack?

Or do we drop Prince, sack Hook, make Parker captain, Gillett to the bench, put Hoffa back to FB, Norman to pasture and Hodges to FB?

We should move Parker to prop and Gillett to lock for sure. :loool:

HAHAHAHAHA Love it Beads ... I actually saw Fillett pack into the front row last night as I ate egg off my face HAHAHAHA

(Damn I love this Forum!)

I would love to know what was the catalyst to our change. Did everything just click after it was drilled into us at training? Did we get a boost of confidence from somewhere? Did the scathing media reports get to the players?

Maybe its the peptides that Hook has snuck into the Gatorade.

I reckon its >75% Norman coming up into the line at last with good timing and the rest of the game plan just becomes inevitable: pass the fu**ing ball and anticipate an offload at all times

Most of all, it shows me yet again the critical importance of a play making full back, and that we can do it without Dugan - this year at least

Top four material ??! Think someone had a little too much red cordial this afternoon...

The broncos got some self belief from that second half against Melbourne and they've carried that into their next couple of games... Keep it real fellas ... We've won two in a row..

True, but I have to say the way we played against 3 of the top sides is pretty convincing stuff, given there is I believe, a lot more to come.

We may not make the Top4, but we definitely showed enough potential to make it against the top teams in the comp. After 6 rounds in the NRL, which is a quarter of the regular season, I'm comfortable labelling us a Top 4 chance. However, it's the NRL, and injuries in particular, can cruel any team, so there are no guarantees.

Except Melbourne. I guarantee one of their big 3 will not be injured at the important part of the season.

Hopefully.. it's all about confidence.. Its what makes the world go round for professional teams / athletes in any sport.. While the broncos have it, they're in business

Winning culture. Winning head space. Enjoying playing well and for each other.

And I still reckon perhaps the single biggest catalyst to our attack has been Norman coming into the line .... at the right time: something Hoffa just couldn't get right

But then, we seem to have gained almost another Yow Yeh in Hoffman

Yep and all that re Norman and Hoffman stems from their own confidence.. Look at Bubba Watson the golfer, absolutely sublime this time last year in winning the Masters.. This year, +3 at the halfway mark and battling to make the cut

I was actually thinking about this this afternoon while i was watching some Broncos highlight videos, I realised that the thing that dissapointed me most about our end to last year and the first two rounds of this year was that it didn't seem like the boys were delivering a "Broncos" peformance. It seems to have all clicked now and the boys really seem to be enjoying themselves and willing to work there way out of a grind, I just hope they can keep these sorts of performances going.

Reed has gone from not passing to no look passing

I think this is a seriously important point, both for Reed, but also what Norman and the entire left side are starting to do: be there to support each other, and deep enough to get the timing right

Now for the other side.

I wouldn't get too carried away. The wins against the Titans and Cowboys, while well-deserved, were not enough to prove that we can be a top-four side.

We have a long way to go yet. I still don't believe any side thinks, "Oh crap, we've got the Broncos this week". I still don't believe we're good enough to challenge the likes of Melbourne, Manly or Souths, but we're improving every week.

A two-game winning streak is a good platform to jump into premiership contention, but in the present, we're a long way from top-four status.

Also, what if Thurston converted the Cowboys' first try? We might be ruing a golden-point loss. We were the better team, but far from 100%.
