5-12, season in tatters, where did it all go wrong with Souths?

- Loss of experience in Luke, McQueen & Walker
- Losing Reynolds and Sutton after Round 1
- Sam going into his shell after the neck injury in Round 3
- George a shadow of his former self
- Cook not showing the form he did at the Dogs
- Inglis/Walker/Keary being shuffled around

Mix that with mumurs of Maguire being a taskmaster and getting players offside (Grevsmuhl) and you get a season like this.

Preseason fun camp and drinkies with Rusty. A drunken hollywood wanker ripping into half the team and saying they weren't worth what he was paying them isn't going to do much for morale, and him telling the team that Samburgers was amazing and why couldn't they all be like Sam didn't improve things.

The only way they could have saved their season after that was if Maguire got Crowe in a headlock and dragged him down to training to personally apologise to each and every player, say he was a stupid bloody wanker who thought that money meant he knew anything about football, and admit that his band is a fucken pile of shit. Instead they made it clear Keary was bring pushed out because he was the one player with the stones to stand up to Crowe and tell him to pull his head in and stop bagging the players. It's not surprising that the players don't like the coach after that gutless display of toadyism.

I think its a morale thing. I mentioned it a while ago, but Inglis and Big Sam especially just dont look like they are enjoying their footy.

I think it's a number of things starting in 2015.

Before they won the premiership, they were motivated as they have ever been to win one. Then they won it. After that, they started to lose the hunger. They went up against sides that were no match for them even at their worst and beat them comfortably. But as the season progressed the hole just got deeper and deeper.

I believe Mag was overworking them in some attempt to get them back on track. Instill some tough love in the side. It didn't work. They didn't have the motivation as before. They get more tired and once again the hole just got deeper and deeper.

Then they lost some quality players, players that were the glue for that side and they had a couple of barely first grade standard players as replacements. Their performances didn't improve, perhaps too many egos at the club and then Rusty had his little spray and once Keary stood up to him, he became the scapegoat. By the sounds of it the players didn't take the news well and it divided them.

I think Mag and Rusty have lost the playing group and the only way to fix it is to resolve the conflicts or a massive cleanout.
