Which Players Should We Re-sign?

Ok, according to Zero Tackle, we have 24 players off contract this year:

• Nick Slyney
• Caleb Timu
• Jarrod Wallace
• Aaron Whitchurch

Which players should/n't re-sign?

According to the Courier Mail, Lui and Kahu will re-sign soon. Also, Hunt is more likely to go to the Knights than stay with us.

I think Maranta, Whitchurch and Copley are all medium-priority. If we can keep two out of those three, I'm happy.

Anderson and Dodds are both fairly inconsistent but hopefully one of them will stay.

Even though Baptiste is never used, I think we need him in case McCullough's ruled out long-term.

For long-term success, we need to keep Timu, Molo and Oates.

Baptiste, Copley, Hunt, Kahu, Sanderson, Lui, Molo, Oates, Timu, J. Wallace and Whitchurch would be my priorities of that lot...

• Kurt Baptiste (Depends on plans with Macca/Hunt.. If both Macca/Hunt are staying free up space and let him go.)
• Joe Bond (Re-Sign, He won't take up much cap space and will be the one to bite us if we let him go)
• Luke Capewell (Let him go, Macca/Hunt and even Baptiste should be ahead of him)
• Dale Copley (Re-Sign, At worse his a great depth player. At best one of the starting wingers.)
• Luke Dalziel-Don (Re-Sign and actually use him when the numbers are down.)
• Mitchell Dodds (Re-Sign, Won't command much and does the job)
• Ben Hunt (Re-Sign, Regardless keep him.)
• Jordan Kahu (Re-Sign, We will use him and need him over the coming years.)
• Denan Kemp (Really depends on cap space, if we have it and he doesn't command much keep him otherwise let him go. 6th choice winger)
• Dunamis Lui (Let him go, we can't keep em all and of the forwards we would miss him the least.)
• Lachlan Maranta (Re-Sign, Only behind Hoffman,Copely,YowYeh in rotation and given the chance of Hoffman going to fullback he becomes 3rd)
• Nick Slyney (Re-Sign, He won't command much and with some grooming can become an important part of the pack in the future)
• Jarrod Wallace (Wallace, Whitchurch are in the same boat. If they don't command much as they shouldn't re-sign them)
• Aaron Whitchurch

I removed the guys that I can't judge or have no opinion of at all yet.

Disagree, He has shown that when the team needs him he steps it up and can deliver alongside Thaiday/Hannant. He isn't flash but he is reliable and that's perfect imo. Among all the talent and flare you need that solid performer.

I think Hala and Dodds are more useful. Hala is obvious, as long as he stays on the field, and Dodds adds better defence and doesn't have that typical Scott Anderson error in him.

Hunt I want to stay, but really can't blame him if he goes, especially if anything happens with Widdop/another half. If he signs elsewhere (Newcastle) and Corey does go, the club will wear the on-field consequences for at least the next 4-5 years. Slyney has shown good value when given the chance, I'd take him over Sanderson any day of the year (piss him off, although to his credit he hasn't had any dropsies yet this year) .

I don't know what to make of Lui, he's not big, but hasn't shown much skill either. I say let him go. Dodds I'd be willing to extend maybe another year. Whitchurch and Kahu are good future signings. Maranta needs to show some of this speed he's talked about, otherwise on thinnish ice, especially once Copley comes back (and has been re-signed obvs) and whatever happens with JYY. I really rate Gibb and J Wallace, definitely keep them too. Keep Bond and maybe Georgetown on the books and re-sign all the 20's guys, especially Timu and Molo.
