Which young forward is going to reach their potential this year?

He should be getting his short balls from the dummy half 2m out from the line
I like this (short balls on the edge to him as well, or as a dummy or real runner on the inside shoulder with a 2nd option on the outside in the attacking 10m).
These options will either get a try or suck in plenty of defenders, next tackle send it wide to kotoni - bang!

If Hethrington nails down the starting spot at lock he is my tip.

I think Flegler is in for a big year.
After origin he was playing very well, the one two punch of him and Haas was very effective.
obviously he just needs to reign in his stupid brain snaps, I see him locking down that starting spot this year.

My money is on Robati, he has alot of potential and I think if he can get a bit more time on the field he'll push Riki to the bench. He runs bloody hard, he doesn't shy away in defence and has some slick hands.

The coach dictates style and the game plan, but on the field it's down to the players to execute the plan. Ultimately, it's generally on the those two I mentioned in a game situation.

And if they continue to not listen at training and do the same dumb shit in games .
The coach doesn`t dictate them to reserves ?

Thats on the coach then. He needs to be strong enough to make those kind of calls if players are constantly not performing or doing dumb shit. Its not rocket science.

They generally follow the game plan and tactics in training tbf. Its a totally different kettle of fish though when you get put under pressure in games. As Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth, and we havent had people who can manage a game under pressure for a long time now. People can dress it up however they like, but your half back and hooker have long been the two players who have the responsibility of steering the team around the field and they need to be good enough to make decisions on the fly as needed because sometimes the game plan has to go out of the window.

If a front rower is constantly getting the ball thrown to him on the 4th tackle thats generally not the fault of that player. Its poor game management by the players who are supposed to be performing that role for the team.

He's one of our biggest upside forwards.
Not sure if potential is the phrase but the forward I most want to see is Piakura. I don't think he will explode in form but I think a gradual season of improvement is possible.

518 minutes-less than six and a half games since October 2019.

I don't think he ever put attack and defence together in 21. His best attacking game was against Souths off Gamble, but his best defence was against the Hunters where he made lots of great last ditch efforts to stop the big boys- He's a classic Clyde tackler and I think if he can string 20 games together you will see that more and more.

I think he needs a good run of 60-70 minutes in ISC.

I would love to see 25 games this season, whatever the make up of that I don't really care but just some football.

Since 2019, sin binned, suspended, knocked out in the finals, misses a Grand Final- he's just had nothing.

Once he does get form, he will explode.

Well I think Moose was under orders from Uncle Wayne to hit it up on the 4th because Milf couldn`t run any plays on the 4th because he would get tackled with the ball and wouldn`t be able to kick on the next tackle .
OK boys , Moose is our ruck 4 guy . Macca you just make sure you know where Moose and Milf are so we don`t get confused . Bennet ball ! LOL .

I’m a massive fan of Robati too. If you didn’t know better you’d have no idea he was a 19 year old in his first season of NRL. Heaps of potential.

That flick pass off load is money .
Only saw it once or twice . I think he put Kotoni away with one ?

I'd like to see alot more of Piakura this season as you've said I guess he's just had a unlucky run.. but one thing it's done is added abit of size to his frame.

I think it will be either riki or robati.

I see a lot of younger teo in robati and teo was in career best form playing next to reynolds.

However riki finished the year strongly too. He runs good lines and having a half that can position him in gaps (similar to gamble against the cowboys) would make him a very dangerous ball runner. His defence also improved and he really pushed hard from the inside to assist his halves (I think he really benefited from gilletts guidance).

It really comes down to who grabs their opportunity.

Tc robati i think, gamble feeding him short balls.

He was my first thought as well. So much obvious potential there, and if the halves click into gear as we think they will, he will be running some sweet lines.

Btw this thread needs a poll

Sorry mate don't know how to add a poll, I never really start threads. But if somebody can and wants to, go right ahead.

If given an opportunity in the team i think Corey Jensen, he's not the youngest but he might be a surprise packet.

Well he is younger then me so I guess that qualifies.

I know this is about young forwards hitting their potential, but I'm super excited to see what Capewell can bring to the team. GF winner, consistent, does the 1%ers.

If nothing else, he is someone in the forward pack with Haas that will compete on every play, we need someone like that rallying the troops.

If the young guns can replicate what he brings to the team, our backs should have a lot better time of it this year.
