Context, two years earlier Bennett was going to leave in the dead of night and leave Brisbane holding their dick. Broncos were very jumpy about power.
The unthinkable had nearly happened and plenty at the Broncos saw Wayne leaving as a chance to restore some power to a more traditional league setting.
