Why are you a Brisbane Broncos Fan

No special story for me, started following them because they were from Brisbane. Having so many wonderful players play here just solidified my interests. My Dad never really followed league, he was more of a Cricket fan. Cricket was my favourite sport for a long time too, more than 3/4 of my life, but I just don't give a damn about all the nobodies currently in the Australian side. So League, Broncos and QLD are my only real sporting love.

Basically My dad supported them since day one, so grew up watching them play, Plus he was best mates with the guy who used to own the old Broncos car that got around to a few games, if anyone remembers that.

I adopted Rugby League as the sport to watch and follow in Australia, first because I never could stand yawnion and if I never enjoyed ballet, I enjoy even less its poor cousin: AFL.

Soccer was my favourite sport, but when you arrive here from Europe and look at the A-League, you get incontrollable tremors. Still love the Roar though!
Anyway, European Soccer and NFL don't clash that much or at all with the NRL season.

The more I watched League and the Broncos, the more I got into it, and I am now first and foremost a Bronco and Qld League fan, and enjoy being involved in the junior leagues where my son has been playing.

The reason for the Broncos in particular?
Because the Broncos are from Brisbane, and (almost) like everything else from this city, they are: AWESOME!
That and the fact that the Broncos culture is everything what I like to see in a sports club!

watch from about 3 minutes and 20 seconds in, arguably the best team try the Broncos have ever scored and another example of why the Broncos became my team.

When I moved to Brisbane I adopted the Broncos to fit in better with QLD league fans. It just grew from there and I now have a passion for the club. First Broncos game I went too was a Roosters game in 2002 at QUE2. First as a fan was round 1 2005 against the Cowbiys.

Today there'd be a knock-on in there somewhere and held call on that last tackle lol.

I really don't know why. Nobody in my family supported them but I grew up in Queensland so I guess that was it. Tbh I can't even really remember a time when I was little when I didn't support the Broncos.

Probably fair to say I don't feel the same level of passion about them these days as I used to though.

And that just highlights the difference between the common sense flow of football calls by the refs back then to the modern attempt(and fail heavily in the process) to make no mistakes by strictly going by the book and ignore all logic in the process calls we experience now, hell its gotten to the stage refs are so afraid to make their own call whenever theres a question on a try. It might not be a try in the modern game but quite frankly when you can score a try by grounding it with your torso even when you have knocked it on in the process that just highlights the problems in the game today.

I was a fan from day one. Ipswich born and bred in the same suburb as Allan Langer. Dad worked with Alfie in the Ips City Council patching holes in the road. Janine cut my hair at Stefans and on occasion Alf would be outside waiting for her to finish work. Before the Broncos I supported the underdogs Cronulla who loved QLDers. I hated the NSWRL because they were biased pricks who answered to no-one. I was over joyed when the Broncs came into being and will be a life long fan, for sure.

Same as many people, Dad supported them. Used to go to plenty of games in the early 90s aged 7 or so. Couple of premierships when I was just learning the game probably went a long way in securing me as a life long fan... Dipped out of it a bit in 2003-2004 when I turned 18 etc but have been right back into it since about the 2005 and the 2006 premiership didnt hurt...

I was born and raised here and my oldest brother has always had an interest in the game, so I guess that influenced me a fair bit.
