Why won't this Inglis to Broncos rumor go away?

I don't want Inglis. Our team plays great together now. We need to keep this group together. Reed might not be able to score tries from anywhere on the park but he can sure as hell set them up from anywhere..

But where was smokin' Joe ,1910,Talanoa etc while Daniel was being hounded night and day? Perhaps they are the ones who owe Daniel O'Dowd the apology?

pull ya head in tom, last i seen or heard inglis still hasnt signed a contract???
and as far as owing an apology, all i said is that it was garbage that inglis would be here this year which seems to be fairly true. and as for smokin joe or 1910 im pretty sure they are in the same boat too so thete wont be no apologies.

p.s, when is d.c.e and folau showing up??

Sorry man, what this site really needs is a sarcastica font.

And at the end of the day that's all he has to do. Give Milf and Oates plenty of room to move and let them do the rest.

I have a dream that Bennett can get Reed back to his 2011 form.

If he can do that, he'll be a good centre and everyone will be glad to have him in the side. He won't be great, but you don't need every single player to be great. He will do the job quite well.

I'm one of the biggest anti-Reed-ers on here, and honestly all he has to do to keep me away/happy is get maybe 15-20% quicker, fix his defence regarding his outside shoulder and if he is injured, do the right thing for the team and don't play. Don't let it drag on all season. He does those things, and any other problems (ie consistency) should fix themselves in the process and we could have another top 10-15 centre for 250K.

Reeds hardly the worst centre out there that people make him out to be
lets be honest here, would anyone here trade him for some clubs centres like the Tigers Titans and Rabbitohs?
reed had a pretty consistent year last year so I don't see why there is so much hate on here for him

Because we're spoiled. Our starting 13 are all rep players or guaranteed future reps, except McCullough who also cops a battering. There's always room for improvement but expecting a perfect team should be reserved for entitled Roosters fans.

I think the Reed hate is a combination of entitlement (as Morkel has said above) and the need to prove Copley (our any other competitor for Reed's centre spot) is the better option by putting Reed down.

I watched a interesting segment on 'Mike & Mike' last night where they were talking about how people try to rate the GOAT in different sports (which is what is currently happening in the NBA ATM) and the tendency is to put the competitor down to make the guy you like look better. Rather than talking about their positives and which pro's you prefer or find more valuable, the human temptation is to focus on the others flaws and exaggerate those to the point of ridiculousness in an attempt to prove the other bloke is better.

Reed was above par in every game last year IMO, aside from when Fergo tore him to pieces. But fergo is a great player and I can't see Reedy letting that happen again. He has a solid crack and can put away his winger quite well

It would be interesting to see the amount of tries we scored down the left compared to the right for last season.

While I can't say I have checked out his crack I do agree with the sentiment here. For me it wasn't about hating on Reed it was just that I worry about his shoulder giving out completely so I would have preferred to keep Copley. In an ideal world we would have them both for depth but none of us really know the salary cap details and future plans and in the end I think we have recruited very well and have a lot to look forward to.

I simply think Copley is better than Reed, but I also understand WB's decision, especially when looking at the salary Dale was on, and his shorter term contract.

Reed is the type of player Wayne loves, and deserves respect for always putting everything in when wearing our jersey. He isn't a top centre, but he is better than a lot of current NRL centres, albeit if we get the chance to replace him with Inglis, while also losing Maranta and Glenn, I would jump at the chance.

I think some people on here would still complain even if we rolled out the current origin side.

WAYNE Bennett has opened the door for Greg Inglis to join the Broncos.
On the eve of Saturday night’s Indigenous-World All Stars clash at Suncorp Stadium, Bennett said he would never reject Inglis if the Souths ace wanted to return to Brisbane.
World All Stars coach Bennett will try to mastermind the downfall of the Indigenous side which will be led by Inglis before 40,000 fans at Suncorp.
Inglis will decide later this year whether to stay loyal to Souths or finish his NRL career in Broncos colours.
Inglis reneged on a handshake deal to join the Broncos in 2010 but his management said Bennett’s presence now makes Brisbane an attractive option for the 29-year-old.
“I don’t know if Greg will finish his career at the Broncos, but in the right time and right place, of course I’d be interested in him,” Bennett said.

“I would never turn my back on Greg Inglis if that’s what he wants.
“If his desire is to come back to Brisbane to play, I wouldn’t say no, but we haven’t got that far yet.’’

Rumours that Inglis wanted to shift to the Broncos intensified last year after he and wife Sally bought a house in the Brisbane suburb of Sandgate.
The Broncos have privately explored ways to accommodate Inglis under the salary cap, preferably for next season.
One major barrier is that Inglis is contracted to Souths until the end of next season and would have to seek a release to play under Bennett.
The Broncos need backline strikepower to break the longest title drought in the club’s history. Bennett recently offloaded Dale Copley to snare speed demon James Roberts and British Test centre Jack Reed would probably have to be jettisoned to make way for Inglis.
“We’ve got Darius Boyd at fullback so we’ll see what happens,” Bennett said.
“But I’ve seen Greg confront and meet some challenges and the way he presents himself today is outstanding.
“Greg has matured a lot as a person and player. A lot of things have helped him, playing for Queensland and all the things he has done, he is a wonderful person.
“He has had his demons over the years, and battles to fight. People are quick to criticise NRL players these days but it’s a process for some guys and Greg has come a long way.
“He’s an outstanding individual.’’

Souths coach Michael Maguire has no concerns about Inglis seeing out his contract at Redfern
“It was only a week ago, launching his wax likeness at the NRL museum, where Greg said he was committed to Souths for the next two years,” Maguire said.
“For us, that’s exciting.’’
Inglis has enjoyed his first full off-season since 2005 and his physical condition wowed Indigenous All Stars colleagues when he trained for the first time this week.
“This is the first time I have done the pre-season in a long time. I usually miss the majority of the pre-season,” Inglis said.
“I still am the same weight but I am doing more weightlifting at the moment.
“Never in my dreams would I have ever played more than 200 games.
“I am waking up, loving what I do, day in, day out. I am living my dream.’’
