The clubs would be very stupid to get rid of State of Origin. It is a massive money earner, and should be used to generate more money. I don't think the players would go for it either.

It would be stupid to get rid of origin but the clubs may think it is not worth the risk to their best players

Honestly if the clubs want more money they need to realise they need State of Origin. I don't think it really matterd in AFL as the players didn't care too much for it. It would be the opposite in league.

the other real concern i have is that they allocate too much of the financial pie to top level footy and neglect the grass roots of the game. the players are whinging about not getting paid enough and i hope the don't allocate the majority of the money to them otherwise league will die a very quick death.

This has largely been the basis of the QRL's objections to the IC structure as proposed. Given that it seems the QRL are now in agreement with it to proceed, I would have to assume they have been given some fairly iron-clad assurances that this will not occur.
