Josh Dugan - Signs with Dragons

Do you want the Brisbane Broncos to make a play for Josh Dugan?

Re: The big Dugan discussion

I agree he'd probably be the most exciting signing since Folau, but do you really think he's going to make that much difference to our overall team? I personally think the broncos problems exist around the halves and hooker area. You could put as many good players as you want on the field for the team outside those positions, but if they don't get good service from those 3 players, it's not going to make much difference.

Hooker is the least of our concerns. Macca is not cameron smith but he is really not as s*** as some people make out

Re: The big Dugan discussion

I for one am super glad your not involved in recruitment for the broncos. You do realise just saying you don't want him at the club would have done the job.

Offending players with ridiculous offers would do our club (which is currently struggling to attract quality players) more harm than good.

Oh noes! we are going to offend poor little Dugan.
FFS it's a fcken privilege to play for the Broncos. He's the one that should be doing the begging.
Since when have the Broncos paid massive overs for a player yet alone a player that hasn't done anything for over 2 years and who is also a massive dickkhead!

theres a big difference between 'massive overs' and 75k

Re: The big Dugan discussion

And to answer the question...Justin Hodges, 2005. Hadn't done anything for ages and was a massive dickhead... we turned him around.
Well, he was still a dickhead for a while, but greatly reduced, like he'd been dunked in cold water or something. Shrinkage.

Exactly right coxy, nearly identical scenario. People should go back and read some comments on forums back then after it was announced he was returning... no one wanted it and look how he turned out.

We didn't pay massive overs for him.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

He got on his knees and begged to come back to play under Wayne.
Big difference.

Came back on pretty small contract for a player of his talent as well. Also has Bennett at the helm who has a track record of sorting out dickheads.

Well Bennett could be very useful here at BHQ it appears...lol

The keyword is spine. Dugan plays a spinal position. Our 6,7 and 9 are just as good as the Dogs but with a better coach and Barba they get great results.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

JOSH Dugan is interested in becoming a Bronco because the club can offer him the support to re-emerge as a representative star.

Sources close to the sacked Raider said he wanted to be at a "large club, in a big city" and he believes the boredom of Canberra contributed to his code of conduct breaches.
The 22-year-old feels a club such as the Broncos, with its strong culture of professionalism, would benefit his development as a player and person.
Dugan last played for NSW in 2011.
In the past two seasons he only featured in 30 of the Raiders' 50 games as he battled injuries.
Dugan had repeated clashes with Canberra coach David Furner and Raiders officials.
The Broncos are in no rush to make a move on the former Blues custodian, content to wait until the NRL decides what stipulations will be written into his registration contract.

It was reported this week that Dugan had already spoken to Broncos football manager Andrew Gee.
St George Illawarra remain front runners for the Tuggeranong junior after the Titans pulled out of the race this week.
The Dragons say they are not negotiating with Dugan but admit they are interested in him.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

I think people are vastly overrating Dugan. He's no Inglis or Slater or even Stewart or Hayne. He's just a better version of Josh Hoffman.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

i actually think people underestimate him to be honest. hes a handy playmaker himself, and when he is on song he can almost be as unstoppable as players like slater and hayne. definitely better attack wise than Stewart. all stewart has is support play and chasing down grubbers.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

This is looking more and more likely to happen and I don't know how I feel about it now. Too many conflicting opinions. May as well give him a chance and if he stuffs up then I can think to myself "I knew it". I can also feel great when the signing pays off.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

Also, I think we should just continue to populate the team with rangas.

Completely agree, he is a gamebreaker. I am a massive fan of Hoffman but Dugan does everything that he does (better imo) and adds to that speed and a playmaking ability we simply don't have at the back currently

The big Dugan discussion

It's such a hypocritical decision to sign Dugan IMO but we need to sign him if he accepts our terms and has sort ted himself out.

Re: The big Dugan discussion

Actually Dugan was in Brissy yesterday, he was walking down Burnett Lane and I yelled out to him "Hey Doogs, r u going to be a Bronco soon?"' and he replied "'**** off, u backwoods fuggin redneck"'. Oh yeah, he will fit in just fine in Brisbane.
