Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Speaking of Inglis and Henjak... http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...oach-ivan-henjak/story-e6frep76-1226634254203

**** I hate the gnome!
Can't believe some people didn't want him gone at the time... :scared:

That would be me.

Nobody on here was privy to the inside dealings at the club. Yes, there were rumblings, but there were rumblings with Bennett too so it was natural to give him the benefit of the doubt. I believe the stance was to give him until 2011 to prove himself when he had the squad he wanted and didn't have to contend with the Broncos worst injury toll of all time.

However, it should be on the record that one of my biggest problems with sacking Henjak was finding his replacement. There were only 3 guys I wanted in the role, Bennett, Bellamy or...our assistant coach Griffin who I felt played a big role in developing our 20s.

So what do ya know! :thumbup1:

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Henjak had us playing a good brand of footy but lacked in getting us to defend well. Had he been a better man manager he could have become a pretty good coach IMO. SOunds like he was a prickly character and hard to work with so that was his downfall in the end.

Yep, when it became clear that off the field he was an insecure wreck who'd pick on the rookies, it was clear that the club made the right decision.

I still don't think he's the total nuffy he's portrayed as and clubs could do a lot worse than sign him as an assistant coach. Some of his offensive game plans were pretty damn good. A lot of people loved our 08 style of play and you can thank Henjak for that.

Swap Henjak's and Griffin's attack coaching (kind of like in Face/Off I guess), and we'd have a pretty good coach.

Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence our attack has declined since we switched to Griffin, but admittedly Lockyer's retirement is a huge part of that. The attacking structure under Henjak was a lot more potent, however.

Still, as a manager of players and their morale he was fucking hopeless.

And it all happened because Cullen failed to land Bellamy.

And then compounded it by chasing after Henry and missing that opportunity.

Agree, i think he was very detrimental on the loss of aura surrounding the Broncos, especially to other players. It was always going to be tough coming in after Bennett but with Henjack we were just another team.
I dont think Cullen helped either.

Cullen is the cause of Brisbane being a glory club, to just being another club.

He ruined it's awesome name by fucking Bennett over, by chasing coaches who were never going to sign with us, and dropping every ounce of talent, to get one player at the club. He's a fucking hopeless ****, and I feel for the Sharks, he's not going to make things better, he's going to make it worse.

In a perfect world when bennett leaves we hire someone else and keep Henjak as assistant. If Henjak leaves for another head coach job, we get him back as an assistant when he inevitably gets fired.

I'd love to have him as an attacking coordinator. Unfortunately after his stint as head coach there are far too many burnt bridges. Mind you whoever mentioned him taking it out on rookies. Reminded me of thaiday's if Dodds didn't make a defensive misread we wouldn't have lost. Sorry buddy but winning requires scoring points.
