[Rumour] The Hunt for Karmichael's return to Broncos.

Tri-code pioneer Karmichael Hunt is shaping as the answer to Brisbane’s dilemma in the halves as speculation mounts that the former Test and State of Origin star, now playing in the AFL with the Gold Coast Suns, is considering a return to the NRL.

Desperately needing to overhaul their playing stocks after a poor season, the Brisbane Broncos are causing enormous ructions behind the scenes in the NRL, making rare use of the club’s unrivalled professional and financial clout.

Having already secured the services of Ben Barba and Martin Kennedy, Broncos football operations manager Andrew Gee has his sights set on adding to the backline stocks, but not before securing a new set of halves to replace departing trio Corey Norman, Scott Prince and Peter Wallace.

Canberra Raiders ace Anthony Milford was thought to be on his way to Brisbane but his manager, Sam Ayoub, yesterday told The Weekend Australian the impending appointment of Ricky Stuart as head coach of the Raiders had changed the landscape “significantly”.

no idea how Ricky being appointed has changed his fathers health.

I'd be stoked to see hunt back and I'm not bitter about him chasing some coin in AFL.

It doesn't. But Ricky is throwing big coin at Milford, Ayoub has green in his eyes, and is trying to convince Halo that he can in fact be comfortable in Canberra... with a bigger house. Or he's playing the game, looking to bump up the asking price even if he's already decided to come to the Broncos.

Agreed, would take Khunt back if we cant get another half for next year. He's probably more mature now, and he was already a big talker and captain material before he left. Modern game should suit him more too.

Think he could do a job for us but could cost us a bit so not sure I'm sold on the idea.

What position? He wasn't a 5/8 back in the day.

He will be 5/8 if he comes, **** I'd love Canberra and the Broncs to conspire and leave Ayuob out in the cold with a big egg on his face. These manager grubs are running the game at the moment and need to be reigned in.

wouldn't it be funnt, if the Broncos signed Hunt before the Raiders make a bigger offer, meaning Milford has to stay in Canberra on the same money he is on now

Thanks, but no thanks.

Hunt is a fullback or nothing in my book. Quality player but he didn't have the skills required to play in the halves when he was an active player, and I don't think the AFL stint will have helped him all that much.

I'll be filthy if it pans out this way.

I'd prefer Canberra having to pay overs...

Khunt is no saviour. He has been out of the game for over 3 years and wasn't even a half when he was playing.

Pete, I've gotta disagree mate. I thought before he left he would have made a perfect 5/8. He has a strong running game, he can kick, he's solid in defence, he's fast, he has few errors in him and he has a level head.

AFL would not have helped his NRL though. Would have helped his kicking immeasurably, though.

The game has changed since he left. His previous style suits the halves more now IMO.

The potential was there, but he had a lot of issues that needed fixing and I don't think his time four seasons of AFL would have fixed those.

Let's not forget that Karmichael Hunt's last stint in the halves lead to our worst ever loss in the club history, or one of the worst Queensland performances in their dynasty.

I wouldn't be completely against it if Milford is off the table, his kicking game would've had to improve 10 fold in the AFL, as long as his defense, running game and game sense haven't diminished completely he could be a very solid Five-Eighth

I'd rather we don't sign Hunt.

He might not be the saviour ! But what he would bring is a very good long kicking game, that we lack badly. Clearing kicks early and turning teams around is a massive advantage. IMO

His kicking still isn't that great and looks far from natural. He prefers to handball in the AFL. Sure he can kick long but does he know where it is going?
