I'm ok with Vidot or Kahu this weekend. Just no Reed please!

Channel 9 seemed to indicate the starting 13 will remain the same.

I'm probably going to get hung for even suggesting this, but part of me wants to see Vidot in the forwards for a match.

Not alone mate, the Walker brothers thought the exact same thing which is why they selected him to play in the backrow.

Stats weren't bad either. About what you expect really from a back shifting into forwards. Not really all that busy, could accuse him of going missing but from the sounds of it he had a couple of good runs here and there.

Compromise with Vidot on the bench instead of Lowrie....??

Maybe in 2015.

Vidot is the type of player you would replace a player like Granville or Hala for you know? Somebody who you bring into provide impact but don't expect him to do much else.

I wouldn't tinker with it. Especially with Barba defending in the frontline. We need players who can protect him while being able to offer something to the team on their own merit. Which is why I believe Hook has to persist with Copley. Reed maybe a better defender in the centres but Copley just adds another dimension to the attack. I just hope he has his head on straight and we won't see it up in the clouds tomorrow night.

Sometimes those break-out games can go either way.

Not for a winger; for a forward, maybe.. I don't get the rapturous Vidot love. He's been adequate, for mine.

No other winger makes the same metres he makes. What's to get?

how many tries has he scored? Do playmakers target him with kicks? Are those things important as part of a wingers skillset?

I think so, very much so.

His kick returns are ridiculous and the metres he makes off hitups are too. But you're right, he's been average with the rest. I don't think anyone is saying he's the best winger going around but his metres have been valuable to us this year.

Exactly right, but that's not the profile of a winger. What I am saying is that he's playing out of position, which in turn, hamstrings our attack. I'm not saying leave hime out, just look at his natural game, and play him in a position that suits.

Pretty simple really, he is still very valuable, actually even more so in the right position.

But if we move him we lose the metres made to start our set. He can't play second row and be back there returning kicks. By the way I want him in the forwards too, just maybe not yet. He would make more yards if he didn't step in and run at the markers too I think.

Sometimes there are such things as false gains. All good making meters in our defensive end, but no good if he can't get over the tryline.

Maybe he could be used for kick returns then move to the middle and have someone like Oates move to the wing to score those tries?

Vidot hasn't had much of chance to show his wares in attack. Let's not forget the factor Hoggman as well as two other ball hoggers inside of him...

That's true. The one time I can think of that the ball has been kicked his way, Glenn ended up with a try somehow.

Unlike Maranta last season, it's not like Vidot has been butchering tries left right and centre. He has simply almost never been in a position to actually score. I can only recall one time where he probably could've used his size to trample over his opposition and score, instead of being pushed over the sideline, otherwise very little possession or ball going his way in the last 20.

Granted I would prefer Hoffman there, but that doesn't detract from Vidot's work on the wing this season.

I like @Cult3 's idea, but I can't help thinking that even that may be too confusing for him. I. mean, i don't see him as an intellectual giant, not that it takes that, if you know what i mean.

I also think Porthoz makes a good point in a round about way. If Hoggman took his wing position, we would see an incredible difference in both stikepower and defensive security under the highball and kickreturns, not to mention try saving tackles and diffusing rhe highballs.

This only strengthens my point, I think. Do you get what I'm saying?

I don't think it would take too much intelligence. Once he takes the ball up from the kick he could just stay in the middle whilst Oates moves to the wing. It could get a little confusing when he has to drop back and players have to move into cover his defensive spot.

Didn't have a long career did he?

Wonder why...

Vidot's tries have been down because we keep scoring on the other side of the field.... where Copley has been playing wing.
