Thaiday is a straight up handbrakes guy, as soon as the defence touches him he crumbles.

He just goes for a quick play the ball apparently. Or something. I think it's rubbish.

i'm pretty sure in 2006 we got towelled up in round one. in fact we get towelled up every year in round one. so i'll cut them some slack tonight but there definitely needs to be some changes next week. i get the feeling bennett was giving some players a chance to prove themselves tonight. thaiday needs to be benched as i feel he'll show more spark as an impact bench player. whitchurch needs to be retired and McC needs to spend some time in qcup too.

Not going to go in to full meltdown mode like the rest of you blokes, but that was very ordinary. Glenn & Gillett were probably our best two, Blair would've been in the top 2 but those penalties were costly.

Not really sure about changes for next week.. I wouldn't mind seeing Gillett starting and us using Thaiday as an impact player off the bench, maybe swap out Whitchurch for Oates, and if Gavet is suspended bring in Ofahengaue.

First round loss is nothing to really bother about, particularly against Souths. But the manner it came in was disappointing to say the least.

Thaiday was awful again and his discipline continues to cost. He gave away three penalties in the first half and though the one on Luke was unlucky the other two were typical Thaiday.

Milford was invisible. I don't remember him running all night. I'm sure he'll get better, but I always believed he should have been our fullback and performances like that do nothing to change my mind.

Credit to Gavet though for the cheap shot on Luke. Probably the only thing you could enjoy out of that game.

Well. . It sucks harder being here, seeing it unfold. I've been a member for the last 6 years now. That was just disappointing! I'm very optimistic still... whitchurch proved he's not even close to being anything, maranta still couldn't pin the ears back. . I can see vidot back in the side very soon if he lifts. . Nikorima to come in given that Parker had to play hooker which wasn't in the fans plan I'm sure!!

Gavet needs to step up or wrath out because Mitch Garbutt should be knocking on the door of his prop position! Dodds wad just as useless as he was in the WCS...

Stinks to be herecelebrating" right now for Corey's 300th, but wtf?! Not one offload?! As predicted really. . So sorry to all those who chose him for fantasy.. Especially capt

If Whitchurch is selected for round 2 i will be seriously pissed off.

Maranta was better than i expected, but we still need more from him than just being able to catch a ball, but it's a start.

McGuire is far and away our best prop another fine game from him

Blair looked ok as well, maybe being away from the Tigpies will help him

Thaiday was SHIT, offer nothing except to piggy back Souths up the field all night

Gavet was dreadful, couldn't catch a cold

Milford was far too quiet for the most part

Macca was ordinary, but still offered more than Waddell would have ... Maybe Parcell is a better option.

Reed was average

Bennett needs to use his interchange bench smarter. As in, never have both Blair and McG on the bench at the same time. Cannot afford it, we fell apart tonight as soon as those two left the field.

We need speed at dummy-half. McC is not the man to do that. Need Niko or Parcell on the bench. Luke tore us to bits tonight, what a master-class. Andrew needs to watch the game video and take notes.

**** Thaiday off. He would hit and drop to his knees like a sack of shit, and then play the ball slowly. That's not winning the ruck Sammy, that's being lazy and not making metres.

That was pretty ordinary, but I thought we started well and if Milf didn't drop the ball with a certain try on it could have been a different story. South score next set and it's effectively game over.

I thought Hunt looked pretty good with his limited opportunities, can't do much when you don't have the ball in attacking position.

Just far too many mistakes. The sooner Boyd is back from injury the better.

Don't see what Bennett sees in Whitchurch. He was ordinary in England and very ordinary again.

I won't truly get into the season until the CWC is over, so not too devastated as I would normally be.

I think one thing is clear, wrestling isn't going to go away until it's replaced by something more effective. So Bennett needs to get that shit going at training too, instead of hoping for a miracle.

So true man, he takes the hit up and goes straight to ground like he's going for the quick play the ball but then just either gets out-wrestled completely or takes 30 seconds to get on his feet. Fucking pathetic from a man with his (supposed) level of experience.

I have really really wanted Thaiday to come good. I just don't think he has it anymore. Like someone else posted, when he gets the ball and the defence gets him, he drops like a sack of bricks. He offers no penetration through the line. Reluctantly, I think he should go, with Gillett to start with Glenn, and Oates to the bench.

Same with Reed. I was always willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but for mine, it's Copley's turn to shine in the centres.

As for FB, well, I have said my piece on that. We are not going to go anywhere with Milford in the halves for a long time. I hope I'm wrong.

Uncle Wayne has a bit of rethinking and work to do, Griffinball is deeply engrained in this lot. I wasn't really expecting a win but I expected more than that rubbish.

Gavet needs catching practice, Wihtchurch was a poor selection, Reid and Copley were terrible.

Thaiday is an embarrassment, a man who wants to be the leader and comes up with that poor show of discipline. He can find a new home.

Credit where its due tho I thought Maranta was just about our best and Gillett went pretty well. I also thought Glenn and Blair work pretty hard.

Hunt and Milford I think both found it hard to get into the game because of all the drop ball, errors and penalties.
