McCullough re-signs with Broncos

I think it is a genuine question. Aside from that game against the Cowboys last year (in which he was very good and it has been disappointing that was a once off), when has he bought us back even?

There was multiple games last year in which we were completely on the back foot and he made something out of nothing in our own end by breaking multiple tackles and either scoring a try down the other end or putting us in position to score a try. I can't recall specifically what games, I couldn't tell you what I ate for breakfast yesterday.

I would prioritize Kahu any everyday over Roberts. He is our x-factor in that when he is healthy he brings the level of the whole side up whereas I don't see Roberts doing that. A non-corked Kahu helps us beat the Cowboys last week for sure.

Great signing from the Broncos. With the loss of Hunt we needed to keep experience in the spine. Given a lot of people reckon we should have kept Granville over Macca it was interesting to see that McCullough had 9 runs for 96 metres and Granville 5 runs for 34 metres against the Cowboys. I have already noticed in the 2 games this year that is a major improvement to his game. I just hope that he continues to do more kicking as he already has a quality kicking game.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Kahu as a player.. But calling him our x-factor player is really pushing it, he hasn't passed 2nd gear since 2014, he's as a slow as Jack Reed these days. He could probably get away with being that slow in the centres (which he can't play because of his frail his body is), but on the wing you need speed, and he simply doesn't have that.

If the club viewed him as a long-term piece he'd be in the centres right now over Tautau Moga, who was brought in as depth.

It was a serious question because I can't recall any game where he was a match winner. You could probably count the Cowboys game, but that was Milford. Apart from that, he has done sweet **** all apart from score an early or late try when the game was already over.

Blowing a game wide open, hasn't done much of that either. The finals game against the Titans was probably the only time he really did that.

It was a very broad comment, but once again you knew that and are just looking to start some argument over semantics to boost your already extremely inflated ego. How about you let other people have a personal opinion, not everyone has as much free time as you to spend combing over every game and recording every little detail in case they come in handy later down the track in a debate, jesus dude, get a life.

Kahu was never a speed devil, but he is not slow. It's just that anyone looks slow next to Roberts...
Besides the glass epithet put on him is based on 2 long term consecutive injuries, and a few unlucky injuries on that cursed left centre position.
He may not be as durable as some, but just to put things into a bit of perspective, Kahu has played 42 games in the last 2 seasons, compared to 43 from Boyd, 47 from Oates and 48 from Roberts.

Without comparing the players, Hodges was much more injury prone than Kahu is, and was still a wonderful servant of the club.
Kahu has shown more than enough quality in all aspects to be looked at long term. He is a solid defender, excellent under the high ball, great finisher and a good goal kicker, besides being by far the best Fullback backup the club currently has.

Jumping to the conclusion that he was put on the wing because he isn't part of our long term plans, has zero value. Wayne could have simply concluded that he is the best person for the specialist winger job, instead of not being good enough for the centres, where we have more choices with Moga, Opacic, Pangai and Seve.

As for Roberts, if we're selecting players based on match winning potential then let's go and sign Chrissy Sandow. Just because you have the potential doesn't mean squat if you're not pulling your weight. Roberts has been among the worst at the club and you can blame Hunt and Boyd all you want, they can't teach him how to run lines or how to commit to a line. If I see Roberts dance around one more time, just one more time...

But yeah, I agree with a lot of what you're saying, he's not super injury prone, but it's hard not to be worried about his injury history, one more knee injury could just be about be the end of him, which is why I'd find it unlikely that we re-sign him long term. I think the 2 paths we take are either letting him cash in somewhere else or re-signing him on a loyalty contract, maybe a 1 year deal. (Which I would be completely fine with, by the way)

In regards to being a good goal kicker.. the jury is out on that one, it's far too early to be saying that, he looked great in the WCC and Round 1, but he was pretty poor overall last season and obviously stunk in Round 2 (Probably due to his bruised hip). Let's give him the full season before declaring that he's Hazem El-Masri. Being the best back-up Fullback isn't exactly that important either to me, Boyd isn't going anywhere apart from playing Origin, to which I would probably prefer giving Corey Allan a game or two in first grade.

And on your 3rd point, I believe that Wayne putting him on the wing was a demotion, not a sideways movement. He was awful in the WCC in the centres and honestly wasn't that great in the centres last year when he got the opportunity to play there.

It may mean nothing in the overall scheme of things and I could be way off the mark, but I'm just not sold on him being a long-term player for us, primarily because of his body. Roberts on the other hand has an incredible Rugby League body and was just born to break tackles, I can't be the only one who views him as a more important piece to keep..

Kahus goal kicking certainly evens up the debate of who is more valuable.

You could do a kahu vs whoever in the bronx team and his kicking will be a big factor. Hes a solid player but im more inclined to agree with unbreakable

As for "by far the best backup fb".

Mead might not have the passing game like boyd but hes every bit as solid defensively as kahu, has a better running game and has sctually won matches from that position in the past. Hes probably played a few bit more there aswell
