ANDREW McCullough has ensured he will remain a one-club man after signing a new four-year deal with the NRMA Insurance Broncos this morning.
It is a huge show of faith by the 27-year-old, with the new contract to cover NRL seasons 2018-2021.
McCullough is already in the club leadership group, and is considered future captaincy material.
As he signed the deal today he said he was pleased to lock in his long-term future with the Broncos.
“It is exciting,” said McCullough after he inked the contract.
“To be here another four years and to have that security for myself and my fiancée is really good, and something that doesn’t happen often in rugby league.
“But I am very grateful for it.”
Broncos’ chief executive Paul White said securing McCullough was further good news for the Brisbane club.
“Andrew has been with us since his early teens so to have him re-sign for another four years is wonderful news for the club,” said White.
“His new deal comes on the back of the recent signings of Josh McGuire and Corey Oates, who are all young guys who have been with us since their start and are now re-committing to the club.
“We see these guys as the next crop of leaders of the Broncos, so to have those players committing to new deals underlines the great stability of the club as a whole.”

Good signing, it's nice to get that headache out of the way and have some security in a key position.

I still wouldn't be against signing a specialist to serve as a understudy and provide Brisbane with some options.

We are slowly locking all the keepers up. Boyd is almost done (he isn't going anywhere anyways), & Milfs under heavy discussion. Next up would be Jimmy, Glenn, Kahu and then some of the fringe guys. Im fairly confident we are going to be able to keep who we want to keep

I would target a 20s gun hooker to put pressure on him. Should be able to get him for less that 200k

Looks like BHQ have their scapegoat locked in for the next 4 years.

Personally I'm happy with the signing would prefer they got him playing 80mins, but I think he wears himself out through the level of defence he does.

I doubt that we re-sign Glenn or Kahu personally, but that's just my guess.

Boyd, Milford & Roberts should be the priority. After that we'll probably need the remainder of our cap to sign a Halfback.

I'm very happy with this. Macca and Moose for 4 years. Just need to lock in Milford and Boyd long term and we're looking really good.

Speaking of which, he said something about Alex Glenn to the Storm on Twitter the other day.

This is not entirely unlikely or impossible though. His future at the club is clouded with all the young guys coming through and as much as I would like to keep him, he would be a certain starter in Melbourne whereas he is a bench option (albeit a fantastic one) at best here looking ahead.

As for this re-signing, well it is done now so I have to be happy with it I guess. I hope he was cheap comparatively and I think four years as two years too long but at least it gives some stability as others have said. We know Boyd will re-sign and Milford is highly likely, just need to REALLY nail that halfback position but in terms of that issue, we are still an attractive proposition for players because we have the squad to remain contenders for the next 4-5 years at least.

Prefer Kahu than Roberts

Couldn't disagree more. Kahu is a good winger, no doubt about it, finishes tries well, safe under the high ball, pretty skillful. But Roberts is something else, 2 years younger than Kahu and one of the most dangerous runners of the ball in the competition, he's a match winner.

I'm also factoring in Kahu's injury history, which is extensive, signing him to a long-term contract COULD be a massive mistake, especially considering he's going to be expecting a lot more coin than an average first-grade winger. (Being a constant rep player for NZ)

If it's out of those two, it's Roberts we keep for mine, a no brainer.

When was the last time Roberts won his team the match?

I meant in the general sense of the term, he has the capability to break a game wide open or bring us back in to a game where we're behind, he's done it several times already for us.

But we both know you knew what I meant and were just being a smart ass as per usual.

I think it is a genuine question. Aside from that game against the Cowboys last year (in which he was very good and it has been disappointing that was a once off), when has he bought us back even?
