myles stunk and is so slow you have to line him up with the goal post to see if he is moving.
boyd is no slater and needs to move to the wing. why the hell doesnt he run it back with any vigour!! his miss on maloney in the first half was poor too.
oneill got schooled, he stunk it up bad.
gillett looked like he was on a different planet with some of his d tonight.
mcguire, papalii, gagai, chambers were our best.
oates tried hard but they hammered him flat and it really took it out of him.
milf and napa were good for debutantes.
new blood required and a bit of old blood back in as well.

One of the big turning points was the blatant high shot on Gillette not getting a penalty. It led to NSW getting a penalty which then had them force the short drop out and eventually 12 points.

It was a blatant penalty on the third about 50 out and instead of attacking inside their 20 we were conceding a dropout

I agree with JayPee in that the set plays weren't the problem, the issue is that the forwards were completely dominated, giving our playmakers less time and space.

Milford had plenty of touches for a debutant who only played 50 odd minutes.

I would play Morgan at right centre and bring Munster to the bench. Also think Wallace and Hess need a run

Would put Milford on the bench as he will be the starting 6 next year.

Queensland need some big props. QLD need to seriously see where they are going. Lack of depth in centre and prop need to fix. Look at Broncos how many Queensland prop they got. Next year Matt lodge going to play in broncos color. Matt lodge, Tevita pangai Jnr both are New South Wales. Queensland get some serious problem next few years.

Well things fell nicely into place for the Blues and the game just went the way most of the experts said it would. The Blues were always the better team on paper and they played that way. They were at least a 20 point better side.

But this series is far from over. In the long run it was better that we lost this game by 24 points rather than 6 or 10. Now , hopefully , the selectors can pick the very best Qld team on form and form alone. Slater must come back. Oneil must go. JT will be back. Milf needs another two years NRL before origin recall. Myles , Lillyman out. Hess and Wallace or Sims in. Munster in somehow.
Not sure if Mcguire is really up to it. Just not big enough or fast enough IMO and has not got an off load in him. Can’t see him being dropped though. I did not like his cheap shot on Fifita.

Also a question mark on Gillet ATM. I suspect he is playing injured. Sam Thaiday had little impact and I think his best is behind him.

The most disappointing aspects of this game was the lack in urgency and desperation in preventing Fifita from offloading and also the pedestrian efforts directing play from Smith and Cronk. It did look a bit like they were going through the motions. I think they really wanted Billy there so much and could not quite get over his non selection
.
We can definitely win the second game , but changes are needed . This will be a big test for Kevie Walters and the other selectors.

Smith will miss a few games IMO. It wasn't remarked on during the game but he took Pearce beyond the horizontal in a dangerous tackle. If Pearce doesn't throw his arm out, he lands on his head.

I don't think the team avoided Milford or anything. He took a bit of time to ease into the game, and then got the ball pretty regularly, especially for a guy on his debut. I was impressed....but right now, we really need Thurston.

What did Milford do wrong?

TBH I hardly noticed him. He probably did not do much wrong and did make a couple of half breaks . He is only 22 and still developing his game as a NRL 5/8. He is just not quite there yet IMO.

I don't agree with the calls for mass changes. I thought we played really well tonight just got rolled by a better side. I really think Thurston will make a difference particularly in defence. His talk was missed and if he is there barking instructions I'm sure the whole pack will lift.

Not mass changes.

Oneil, Myles, Milford >> OUT

Slater, J.Wallace, Thurston >> IN

Boyd to wing, Gagai to the centres. Milf played well, but he would have to make way for JT. More upside to Morgon on the Bench than Milford.

He seemed to find himself at dummy half a lot .....

Milford was the least of our concerns. He was good in possession and in defence.

Our ruck defense was a disgrace allowing Fatfita and co. to fucking step and offload at will.
McGuire is not and will never be a lock. Myles is definitely slowing down, and shouldn't be starting in Origin.
O'Neill is hopefully and finally going to be hooked for eternity and beyond.

I dunno where this meme about McGuire not being good enough and supposedly too small keeps coming from. He was arguably our best forward alongside Papalii. He doesn't offload much, but no one else does either. We got spoiled by Parker being Magic Mike with the ball - it shouldn't be just one guy offloading, if offloading is part of your gameplan.

I always thought lock was more about being able to play at a high level for longer periods of time than the props.
