Would love to see this happen, more footy to watch is always a good thing but dunno if it'll happen with only 5 teams

Would be interesting if it happened. How is the popularity of the WBBL and AFLW going back in Aus? Have they maintained their popularity or have they waned this season?

No idea about WBBL, but AFLW is apparently way down.

WBBL might be worth watching, surely the female Heat side is better than the mens?

Is there any rule directly excluding women form playing in the NRL ?

If not, I find it quite sexist that they want to create a league that discriminates against men.

This is what everyone should have:

Brisbane Broncos cycling kit.
Do they have matching bottoms as well? I want everyone at the cafes I frequent to see my old man balls

Broncos have been granted a license, along with Dragons, Roosters and Warriors.

The Sharks were denied, which is surprising.

How the **** were the sharks denied... they've got a full team running around.

Can only think they didn't want them coming in with a fully functioning team and completely dominating the comp... although I think the drags have a somewhat decent existing team as well.

I'm guessing it's probably got more to do with the clubs ability to fund the team (eg sponsors, leagues club grant, etc) so the nrl doesn't have to pay out of their own pocket. Would make sense the sharks missed out then, not well supported and leagues club isn't going to give them a big grant. Could be years till they get the financial benefits of the unit developments they are putting.

Not sure how well the comp will be received by the public with only 4 teams. At least the standard will be reasonably high. The nz team will just be the national team probably, surely the favourites

Sharks appear to be pioneering the womens game and are already funding a women's team. They're also one of the richest Sydney clubs due to the property development at their field.

I don't follow it too much but it seems like almost every female player appearing on tv is associated with the sharks including the most well known in ruan sims (unless she has changed teams or retired). Are they going to have a women's comp without ruan??

If I were a sharks fan I'd see it as a pretty big kick in the guts considering how much they promote the women's game. I had them as first picked for the comp
