I’ve never been a Macca fan. He isn’t fit enough or doesn’t have the stamina to last 80 minutes even when fully fit. God help us if Smith retires from rep footy and he’s Queensland’s hooker this year!

He is one of the fittest players in the league !!

Not to start an argument, but Wallace carried this club, and for a mediocre little ginger like him, he did pretty well I thought. Kodi has zero direction, he can't control the team, which I can live with since he's replacing Hunt, but Milford needs a kick up the ass.

That’s fair enough, I thought he worked hard and gave his all but just wasn’t talented enough.

Nikorima aside from 9 games last year and tonight is just getting his go but if we recycle him because him and Milford just don’t work together that’s Milford’s 3rd half pairing, why is Milford so protected? Besides a damn good highlight reel in 2015 he’s done SFA since.

My other fear about Milford, is that he just seems like the guy who wants to be in control of the side. Which would be fine, if you were capable of it. But then imagine if we get rid of Kodi and sign a more dominant controlling half. Would Milford be happy to go back to the way he used to be in 15 and early part of 16?

I don’t see him capable of doing that, I also don’t see him wanting that authority either? From what we see of him on the field his personality and demeanour is not that of a leader you see in a Tallis/Hodges/Parker.

The frustrating thing from my end is if the club wants to persevere with Milford and they believe that’s the right option than fine (they know a lot more than the rest of us) but as fans we can see that the team lacks structure and coordination as a result of having 2 halves with similar skill sets.

Why Let Taylor go, why let Hunt go only to replace him with Nikorima? Why weren’t we a bit more aggressive toward signing Pearce or
Hodkingson?

I liked the look of the pack, especially Lodge, thought he bought what we’ve been asking for for a few years. I think after a few weeks they won’t be such a talking point but the Milford/Nikorima issue will be a weekly slugfest.

This is the crazy thing....As a footballer of his talent, i would happily let another half control the game - and use my talents to inject where necessary or when i see something.

Well we couldnt compete with 1 mill per year Hunt deal - and he was mentally off the game with us. We didnt "let" Taylor go - it was because we had hunt at that stage.

Niko does not have similar talents. Hes a utility not a halfback at 1st grade level.

I think Bennett got it wrong with his halves plan . I 've got a feeling ash and hunt are going to make our halves look second rate. Might be a early call but it looked real bad last night.

That's why the brains trust is at blame, you need to get these decisions right. And we haven't.

2006 - We were flogged handily by Cowboys in round 1.
2015 - We were flogged handily by Souths in round 1.

Chin up boys, been here before.

The club did let Taylor go, they were under no obligation to do so but Bennett didn’t want to prevent him from getting a go from the titans, was a nice gesture.

Losing Hunt was fine, course he’d take that offer. Half the fan base wanted him gone anyway.

Issue is he’s replaced by someone whose game style is too similar to Milford’s. There were halves on the market that would have made a better pairing but we didn’t go for them.

We also had 13 players on the field in 92, 93, 97, 98 00, 06, 15... IT'S A SIGN.

seriously, the previous years have no correlation to 2018. different ball game, different players.

Yes Milford and Nikorima (especially Nikorima) were quiet last night, But i'm honestly far more disappointed in Thaiday and Boyd. Thaiday was complete trash the entire game. In the first 10 minutes he knocked on, caused another knock on and gave away a penalty. After that he was lazy in defence and was a big reason that Debellin scored his try.

Now for Boyd... Where to even start. In the space of 9 months he has fallen from one of the better fullbacks, to now I definitely wouldn't have him in my top 5, and he would probably struggle to make it in to the top 10 fullbacks around. He has never had any flair, he has never been a player to break tackles but he had a good passing game and was safe in defence. Now last night he bombed a certain try by throwing a blatently forward pass, and he was out of position nearly the entire match. Now if this was a player in the team it would be very disappointing, but he is the second highest paid player, has just been renewed for 4 years, and is also the captain... This is just complete garbage from him. He shows no heart what so ever, and no leadership.

Bennet has really ruined us as far as i'm concerned. He has splashed huge amounts of money on players like Milford, Boyd and Bird, has lost players like Ash Taylor, Jarrod Wallace and Jai Arrow and is persisting with Boyd at captain when in my opinion he is the worst full time captain the Broncos have ever had.

We are really in shambles at the moment. I'm honestly disgusted that they signed Boyd on such a long deal, especially when he was signed after his Hamstring injury. Hodges said it himself, you get to 30, if you have a hamstring injury you're basically cooked. This is shown that Boyd first did his hamstring in september last year... and here we are 6 months on and he is still struggling... So glad we have him for another 4 years... This is classic Bennett just taking care of his 'son'.

Milford hasn’t looked good since the cowboys game early in the season of 2016.

What are people’s opinions concerning him? What’s his future for us?

I’m happy to give Nikorima some leverage, he’s earning far less than Milford and he’s going to need time to learn his new role.

2015 got us all excited, I’m genuinely concerned Milford is now a failure we will persevere with because the coaching staff won’t act on it. We dealt with Wallace for far too long when it was obvious he wasn’t what we needed.

I liked the forwards, I don’t think Thaiday or Sims have a spot in the side anymore though, the rest are good and will get better each week.
The rest were good? Did you see Su'a, he was abysmal. His first 3 involvements included 2 knock ons and a shoulder charge on a guy without the ball... Agree about Thaiday. He's done. Disagree about Sims. I think he should be starting though as players like TPJ offer a lot of impact off the bench which we need.

There is no structure or organization around the heart of the team: the halves.

Widdop looks and plays like a 5/8, Milf didn't.

There's the key to the utter lack of combinations.
Spot on , a halves running game ,and someone directing the middle was what they lacked alright, and i'm afraid to say it but I think this team needs the injection of a new Coach, because it reminded me of the dogshit Broncos under Hook ,and that's another season of frustration. The talents there ,formation is definitely not ?

I feel sick in the gut, I can now understand why Melbourne cheated the cap for as long as they did, we spent years with Hunt, we put up with his mediocrity when he just came into the grade, he cost us a GF.. then a club loaded with cash comes on in and says "right, we'll take one of your star halves, he's ripe for the picking" and now we're set back another few years until we can either develop another half or buy someone elses

I don't condone cheating but it's really easy to see why Melbourne did it, we did all the work with Hunt and now some other club gets to reap the rewards, last night made me sick to the stomach, violently ill even

The point is not to lose heart.

Because they aren't worth what they're getting paid. Hunt wasn't going to win us a comp, that much was obvious, and Taylor is not a million+ dollar player at the moment.

Teams like the Drags and Tits are constantly shit because of ridiculous spending sprees. The Titans, for example, are basically hinging their future on Taylor becoming the next JT otherwise they won't be close to the 8 for the next 5 years.
