I’ve been a long time lurker of this site, but I think tonight I’m finally pissed off enough to post.

The performance tonight solidified some concerning thoughts I’ve had about the state of the Broncos. The blame can no longer be laid at the feet of the forwards, whom I believed performed superbly. Although it would who easy to blame the backline who were disorganised, with little to no attacking polish, the issue goes a lot deeper than that, which I don’t think can be corrected overnight. The likes of Milford, Bird and Boyd have in their own individual capacity the ability to be brilliant, however when combined together it’s a downright disaster. They do not complement each other.

This decision comes down to the coach, and even more so the decision to hire these players comes down to management. In what sane mind, was it thought that Bird was needed? The Broncos absolutely panicked when they failed to sign Taylor, despite them, quietly being arrogant about their ability to sign him. They had no Plan B, and instead threw money at a player and hoped it would stick. With a team with the largest resources in the competition, how could they fail to have any forward planning for the direction of this team?

This failure has reared its head in the past, with the failure to plan for a successor to Bennett leaving, Lockyer leaving etc. The fundamentals of running a successful business is to have a clear direction, which i currently do not see at the Broncos.

His positioning and lack of urgency have cost us at least 6 or 7 tries conceded this year, in comparison to 2015 & 2016 where he was flawless and would only make 1 mistake out of every 5 or 6 games. It's a major concern, and he deserves all the criticism he's getting.

Luck can only get you so far, you make your own lucky in Rugby League by wanting the ball more than the opposition, at the moment Darius wants the ball like he wants a kick in the teeth, I think he'd happily play Centre if Wayne asked him next week, he looks genuinely afraid of touching the footy right now.

But this week? We're talking about this week, and people him are bagging him on tonight's performance. His positioning and lack of urgency cost us zero tries tonight, and he tried his arse off everywhere.

Yes
Yes
No. I disagree completely. He doesn't need more ball, he needs more room. We tried heaps of times to get the ball to him, early, but their defence was swarming on him. If we fix Issue 1 and Issue 2, we'll work out ways of drawing their defence in, giving him more room to move.

There is no fixing the swarming defence on Roberts issue. The only way we can utilize him is a well placed grubber behind the line where the defenders can't touch him. That obviously doesn't sound good atm because of our complete lack of a 7, but that's the only way I can see him being deadly.

That does work and has worked, but we can for sure fix the swarming defence. With a structured game plan, and working over certain defenders, we can easily manipulate the opposition's line to give him more room.

I don't think people are talking about tonight, people are generally criticising Boyd for his pea heart performances over the first 9 rounds, if you're playing like a dogs ass and you get unlucky a few times, people are going to call you a dogs ass. If he was playing well and putting in 100% effort every week we'd all be saying "Man, Darius got really unlucky tonight" instead of "Man, Darius is playing like an aborted fetus"

Who....Boyd?

A Win is a Win but that is not the Win I wanted to see!

Maybe better next week with almost 10 day turn around.

Starting to feel bird may not last the season tbh. hope im wrong cause im actually one of the minority that thinks he could be a great player for us once fully fit and embraces the broncos and Brisbane culture.

but something just seems off with him atm.

to be fair i thought the exact same thing of roberts in his first year with us.
When Glenn scored he had a massive smile on his face. I don't think it's anything to do with attitude I think he just has no idea what his role is which is fair enough considering he's played left center, five eighth, halfback and now second row... and consistently multiple positions in the one game.

The team is far from settled and must be frustrating as a player.

So in other words, no.

We've had this discussion many times about multiple topics, I'm not going to go watch 12 hours of football to respond to some over generalised question from you, if you want dispute my claim, get off your ass and disprove it yourself.

Darius has been absolute dog shit, especially in defense, which is usually his strongest point.

No, people are talking about tonight. "Who was X commentator watching, Boyd was shit". "The other commentator praised him too, they're all off their faces". He's improved out of sight but people just want to blame him anyway. Surprised there have been no "Daddy" or "favourite" lines trotted out.

You don't need to watch 12 hours. Just highlights which takes about 5-10 minutes.

If you're going to make claims about players, at least be willing to get off your ass and back up those claims when asked.

I just wanted to know if you can.
