Darbs may not be killing it as much as he used to and as much as we'd like him to be, but seriously he's all we got at the moment in terms of leadership. Many might see him as sub standard but he's all we got to nurse through the great group of young talent. He is below his best this year, he has been since his hammies went in last year's semis, but as I said he's all we got at present so whinge all you like he's there to lead us through thick and thin and fair play to him, he probably knows himself he's stinking it up, but if he pulls the pin now who have we seriously got to stay on the field for 80 mins and encourage the young uns?

He may well be stinking it up, but he has the teams best interests at heart I'm sure. Without him the colts playing first grade would certainly crumble. He may not be ideal, but he's all we got at present. Seriously - who else we got at present?

When asked about how he feels about being moved back to the wing Isaako said something along the lines of - (yeah I don't mind, it gives me a chance to watch and learn off Darius Boyd this week doing his thing at the back there against the cowboys). Man... close your eyes son. By all means listen to the advice from Daruis but by crikey DO NOT do what he does on the field.

I get what you are saying Jedhead we are thin on leadership but Boyd's done (at least at fullback).

I guarantee you anything that if the ref wasn't a corrupt moron trying to send us to ANOTHER GP game and Milford was allowed to score that try off the Macca grubber, there wouldn't be a shred of criticism of him in this thread.

Instead the try is denied, we lose the game and all of a sudden Milford is a fat overpaid hack because he made one poor Ben Hunt like decision to kick on the 3rd. Give yourselves an uppercut.
Disagree there would be none. The team leaking 30 odd points a couple of weeks out from the finals against a bottom end team combined with the farce last week is totally unacceptable. Everyone's in the firing line for that.

Did anyone else see milf and sims having an argument during the game?
I did. It came straight after Sims had done some fantastic work. It looked to me that Sims was holding back his response and wasn't agreeing with Milford's comments. They both may have been doing the right thing and it was just a timing thing but it was ugly and didn't scream team harmony.

One game against the lowly GC and you have already have promoted Turps as a full time hooker. He must have really impressed you considering that he didn't do anything special.

I think the comment is more a reflection on just how much of a spud McCullough really is. At the moment the general consensus is, anybody would do a better job than A.McC.

****.....throw the goal post the no.9 jersey. We know he can defend well, so we won't lose anything by trying it.

The worst thing to happen was him getting selected for QLD. He's now a "rep" player.

He's one of the most average 200+ gamers the Broncos have ever seen, which normally I'd say who cares, salary cap management, etc. This dude is in the 9, which for me is if not the most important position, it's at least the second after halfback, and he's got a fucking lock on it for 80 minutes a week.

Sigh.

Not dramatic. Daruis Boyd's attitude, body language and performance (as captain) this year are not what we want to see in Broncos colors again. IMO he is disgrace. The captain thing with Boyd has not worked out. In fact I think Darius Boyd's gig as captain is raping our clubs culture up the ass - (now that's dramatic) but not far off the truth either.

I don't care if it's Turps or who ever -just get rid of Macca lol. Gotta start a fresh somehow. This Broncos team is so stale in some positions.

Bird for captain.
Not specifically picking out Boyd, but at Bennetts presser it would have been nice if instead of saying he was happy with the effort, he could have said something along the lines of " the Broncos are a proud club with high standards, and at the moment we have players in the team that aren't meeting the high expecation that comes along with playing for the World's premiere rugby club. They know who they are, and need a hard look at themselves or they'll be shown the door." its clear to me that some players don't appreciate who they play for, or have any understatnding of what is expected if you wear broncos colours

It’s probably a nightmare managing modern players. Egos, entitlement, no taste of the real world since no jobs outside footy. Too much money and fame all while under constant media attention if u do f*** up. Townsville or Melbourne probably only places to play. Townsville likely protects its players, Melbourne media doesn’t care so much. That’s why we need WB as a talent manager and aside from his tactical issues why you need a godfather figure seperate to the coach.

DO NOT do what he does on the field.

if he doesn't start learning from Darius, he will NEVER be a long term fullback in the NRL...

having pace a footwork is all well and good, but unless he learns some form of passing and ball playing from the back, he will spend most of his career on the wing. (would probably be one of the best wingers in the game though). passing and ball playing from the back is Darbs biggest strength

there is a reason that Bennett moved Boyd back to full back.

and there is a very good reason why Isaako should learn from a former QLD and Aus fullback

how many coaches really call out players in post match PC's ... they are not going try and destroy their players confidence ...

what matters more is what the coaches say to the players behind closed doors ... and you can bet your bottom dollar that it is very different to what is said publicly to the parasitic media

So it looks like cowboys will go to bottom of the ladder when the eels win. We've been beaten badly by the 2 bottoms sides 2 weeks in a row. Yay us.

I was thinking of this the other day when reading a column by Steve Mascord.

He's based in England now and mainly comments on the ESL. Occasionally he weighs in and gives his two cents worth on things concerning the NRL.

I'm starting to realise they do things a bit differently over there. His articles are full of zingers.

Not sure if it was at a press conference but there was the one about the Wigan coach saying he'll 'hook' any of his players who fake an injury.

In the NRL, I remember Matthew Elliott or maybe Brian Smith at a press conference saying from now on they'll encourage their players to stay down to entice the video ref to have a look.

There was another one about the Hull coach at full time after one of his players was sent off. Not sure what the player did but the coach said “I’ve no sympathy. It was a pathetic effort. He’s going to miss a lot of games and deserves it."

I can't imagine any NRL coach talking like that.

Yeah, nepotism. You are willfully blind - Darbs was shit the other night. Awful captain, awful fullback.

I didn't like the sound of Boyd as captain the moment I heard it. The media of course ran with the big feel good redemption story when Boyd came out the other end of his psychiatric treatment, and he was supposed to have been a changed man with a much better attitude.

I've yet to see it, to be honest. So he's a bit nicer to the media. That doesn't prevent him from sooking it up on field when shit doesn't go his way.

I didn't like Boyd being shifted back to fullback.

It felt like a backwards looking selection.

Despite the disappointing loss to the Bulldogs, Boyd and Isaako were doing good in their new positions.
Have to agree I think at worst you let Darius switch to fullback inside the 20m and he plays left centre the rest of the time.

Our defence looked very solid with Boyd in the centres and Isaako at fullback... it's not like our sweep play improved with Darius at fullback against the cows, but our fullback defence looked far worse

The team selection made no sense at all. I didn't even think kahu deserved to be dropped. Need to be pick and sticking at this stage not experimenting with combinations every week. Boyd to centres for the rest of his career or nothing imo

I couldn’t understand why Kahu was dropped either, he didn’t have that bad of a game against the dogs did he?
It’s also not as if the problems with our team are stemming from someone sitting out on the wing either is it?

What's most baffling is Wayne saying our left edge is leaking too many points after getting flogged by the warriors. So puts Boyd there and immediately we grind out a win against the sharks and then put 50 on the panthers. Then we have a bad loss against the dogs which wasn't anything to do with boyds positional switch so Wayne goes, ok that's all fucked let's go back to what wasn't working 3 weeks ago and put a rookie at left centre instead. Yep thats logical.
