How did White shit the bed? He tried to get Bellamy but Bellamy decided to stay in Melbourne.

"Truth sessions" tells me there's a lot of disunity within the squad, possibly over Bennett, or maybe even over the teams form and certain players are finger pointing.

The players are 100% behind Bennett and thats got the club worried. I do happen to know a few of the boys, and they all get along fine ( yep there are disagreements, but that happens at every club ) its not like they are at each others throats but they all know at times we havent played to our abilities.

The only coach I would even contemplate at this stage is Maguire.

He's a hard nosed coach who has won a premiership using a very uncomplicated but highly effective system in this modern era.

The caveat being that he may not be a long term coach... IF you believe the media sensationalism that he "burnt out" his playing group.

I think his style of footy would suit the broncos players and is also a style that broncos fans are accustomed to and would enjoy ie fast and powerful attacking footy through the middle

Have they? Or has the media reported it in an unethical way?
Silence breeds speculation though. The media are full of it, sure. But the board should know well enough what they are like and control the message. They stay silent and this is the outcome.

They handled bellyache poorly, they should have come straight out and said we are going to throw the bank at bellyache to secure a future once Wayne retires. Yet by accounts he didn't even get paperwork from us. Hard to say yes when you don't have a formal offer (if the accounts are true).

So the board have a few things to answer for.

They should have controlled the message, put offers in writing, (knowing we are in a great financial position) make the offer ridiculous to the best coach in the game right now (by player vote).

The thing that really worries me now is Paul White and how much influence he has over the rest of the board. He rates Griffin, he is good mates with Griffin and he was strongly rumored to have been on the verge of handing in his resignation when we sacked him for Bennett. I've heard a couple of whispers some of our senior blokes have been sounded out about him.

Ha ha, I just remembered that after I asked the question. Unsettling to think that the usually well informed Wolfie seems to think it's likely.

I'm not convinced its likely as such, but he is certainly being talked about. The big thing last time with him was White was the only one who didnt want him sacked, so he would have a job on his hands convincing the rest of the board.

Surely not.....would be a disaster of mega proportions.

I don't think the board have anything to answer for when we don't know the story. The board don't need to provide rolling updates about the running of the club, hell, there may not be a story there for them to control, so instead of coming out and looking like idiots with nothing to say, let the media look like wankers.

I’m not a tin-foil hat kind of person, but someone yesterday reminded me of Bennett saying earlier in the year; “you will not divide us”.

With that in mind, imagine, just imagine, if someone has ‘leaked’ this as utter garbage in a big middle finger to the NRL and the media and none of turns out to be true.

That’s obviously just a theory (and most likely a wrong one), but damn it’d be hilarious if true.

FTR, I don’t really have a horse in this race so to speak. So I’m not being emotionally hopeful that I’m right for Bennett’s sake, just speculating.

I do, however, strongly believe at least some of the things being said are way off the mark. I don’t have any basis for this thought other than the media so often being wrong it’s hard to believe anything they dribble out.

Time will tell I guess, but it’s certainly interesting times ahead.

It's funny how the Rorters coach seems untouchable. In fact anything to do with the Rorters goes untouched by the media because they are all shit scared of upsetting politis and his billionaire clout. In actual fact I recall watching a Sunday footy show a few weeks ago and it was something to do with a politis milestone. The three journos talking to Sterlo, (especially) Webster had their snouts so far up uncle nick's klakker I felt a little embarrassed for them. Grown men live on TV verbally fellating the Rorters owner. I initially chose to ignore it, but it should be called out for what it is. Blatant bias towards the Sydney money mogul at the expense of the other. The Broncs unfortunately, are made to bear the brunt as all these brown noses write columns of second grade shite.

Both he and Hasler have had success with forward heavy teams. Hasler made the GF with Keating and Josh Reynolds as halves... the Dogs forwards back then basically mirror ours in terms of ball playing ability and general skill levels (although ours do have higher ceilings). Maguire's hard ass attitude and training methods could work with a younger squad.

If the players were 100% behind WB they wouldnt be dishong out the type of piss weak efforts that get a coach sacked
