Fafita was lazy but the fact remains, A front rower stood a fullback up. Sex tapes were better viewing. Bring back the off season.

Id rather kahu at fullback than Boyd tbh... Honestly boyd literally did nothing. Constantly out of position. Rushed up out of fullback and missed a tackle and let them get a repeat set, couple plays later bromwich scores running past nikorima. We get back into it, again they make a break and boyd watches... Im sick of his lack of effort. I don't care if people try hard and make mistakes, but he is our captain and just doesnt try at all. NEVER puts his body on the line. Im sick of people in here defending boyd, theres no aspect of his game that is even mildly impressive anymore.

Boyd needs to call bromwich big papi from now on.

I hate losing to those Storm pricks but it wasn't all bad. Team kept trying even after going three tries down. However our attack isn't clicking yet, disappointing given how long the spine has been playing together despite the disrupted pre-season.

I'm over Macca though. He's slow and he makes poor decisions, his best work was when he was getting subbed out of the game by Kodi. We need Turpin on the bench to provide that uptempo dummy half play if Kodi is locked in at half.

Meh, first game against the ultimate cheats away from home and we did alright. Intelligent folks amongst us will remember the last time we were well beaten in the opening round with a new coach at the helm. I saw signs of positivity so if I wasn't a fucking idiot I'd wait until at least a few rounds in before starting the usual tripe.

Cheers to the footy being back after an abysmal off-season!

Hello lads.

Yeah I would say give it a month before the knives starting coming out.

Rabbitohs only won 2 of their first 5 last year and were absolutely flogged in the first round by the Warriors. I don't need to remind people how the rest of their season went. Back in 2015 we also got flogged in the first round.

It's going to take some time to adjust to Seibold's style. The team has just had a grueling pre-season so I can't blame them for being off.

They showed some good signs tonight.

And lets not forget they won 2 of their last 7 as well

It looked to me that Kodi was the main kicker... went all last year with Milf as the main kicker for reasonable results, so I'm not sure why Seibold would change that if Kodi is intended to be the main kicker this year.

Kodi's long kicking game is just no where near good enough to be a first choice kicker.

Actually I think it was ok for round 1 under a new coach. They were ground out of the game by a switched on team that were superb.
I think sua was a little soft in his early efforts but lift from the end of the 1st half onwards. The kicking and halves play were rusty but considering how much defence the whole team did it was to be expected. Offa lost his way midway through but got better at the end.
I think people may have missed the amount of work maca did to protect some overzealous tackle attempts by forwards charging out of the line. Having said that, a utility replacing the now vacant bench spot might be wise.
I'll defer judgement until a few games when we have at least had a more even amount of possession.

Come on. First game and lost by 10 away at Melbourne. Feeling great that footy is back.

We were not flogged tonight, our weaknesses were just heavily exploited.

It's a continuation from last year and its the same players that continue to be the focus of attention.

The fact that nikorima plays half back for New Zealand really pumps up his resume it seems

Realistically the storm should have towelled us by 40. Out coached for 1 and out played.

I wrote a few weeks back about our age and experience in the middle and our experience from the bench - which is a massive concern. I thought tonight we missed McGuire severely. He never got many wraps for the shitty clean up work he did and tireless efforts both attack and defense but I think it was evident tonight with him missing especially with his quick feet and play the balls.. Gillett tried his arse off but I am not convinced at all with him in the middle. The hype around the young blokes is all good and well but the second and 3rd effort stuff is where the young lads get caught and consistency over 26 weeks will really test the young brigade. We will need to balance some experience and old bulls in the squad sooner rather than later.

I think I also said su'a looked heavy and underdone in the trial and I figured he would need a few cup games. He looked terrible tonight and was in no condition for nrl. Needs a few more weeks fitness in the reggies..

The halves stunk like a 4 day old dog turd at the park. Kicking aimlessly... this has been going on for 3 and 4 years now. sideways Movement and Milford defense is frightening. These pair are still going to drive a team around the park. Headless chooks

If no oates we get lapped and don't even look half a team. He was very good again tonight.
Lodge tried his guts out as did Gillett and pangai looked creative. My concern with pangai is he goes so hard in offense he can get caught defensively. Risk and reward I guess.
Macca is still slow and can't pass. Boyd is an absolute Muppet and offers very little.

Bird looked reasonable defensively however is he going to cause the opposition any issues with his attack?
You look at the storm pack and bench, mix of youth and experience and they seem to have done it again with some cheapies off the bench who can do the job required.

Next week will be interesting against the more experienced cowboys pack....

These posts are annoying, they are apologetic for weaak players in core positions.

Macca has always been nothing more than a tackle bot.

KNik is not a #7

Boyd's time in the side is over. He is taking the piss wearing the #1 and holding the captaincy of the Broncos.

Milford missed the trials due to a hamstring injury, might have been a deliberate tactic to make sure the storm couldn't manipulate his leg as often.

Also there were at least two blindingly obvious grub shots from Vunivalu. Hope he gets a charge for it, because whether winning or losing he's always up to put a dog shot on a player without the ball. Got pretty sick of seeing the Storm players up around the neck almost every single tackle. But I guess that's NRL these days.

But he went back to the bombs away mentality. Sure he can remember how to kick to the corners and not on the 3rd tackle..

Massive improvement over their last game (against St George, in case you've forgotten that result), but still pretty shithouse. At least the Courier Mail's Seibold hype bubble has finally burst, and we shouldn't have to read any more of that hagiographic cocksucking.

Oates fantastic, as usual. Lodge, as well. Can one of them be captain, already?

Moving on, if Seibold really does have anything other than hot air in his scrotum, he needs to punt Macca immediately, and plug the hole at fullback. I'd like to see Turpin at hooker. He coils turd from great heights on Macca in attack. And, maybe if we had the ball more and did something productive with it, we wouldn't have to do so much defence.

We all know Milford's a fantastic player but he doesn't seem to be a fantastic five eighth, and he's never clicked with Niko, who looked twenty times better with O'Sullivan. Maybe it's time to pull the pin and switch Milford back to fullback, and blood one of the many fledgling halves, who all look terrific out of the gate in that position.

What do we have to lose?

As for what to do with Boyd, good question. I'd like to see him open a fish and chip shop.
