At some stage we need to question our approach to these games. Pretending its the referee's fault, or injuries, or bad recruitment just doesn't cut it because those are things we can't change now.
I refuse to believe that the team of players we put out there was a bunch of players 40 points less in quality than their opposition. Sure, winning was a big ask, but that doesn't mean you should just accept getting blown away on the park. The bulldogs and others have learnt to compete against skillfully better and more advanced teams.
That's what coaching is about. Its not just putting a team together and expecting it to work. The coach needs to make sure his team has the best chance possible to succeed every game. It doesn't mean you don't blood new players, but those players need to work to plan they can enact today, not in 2 years time, because more of those performances and these players will simply not be available. Either they will leave to more competitive teams, lose focus, or simply get broken down by the psychological getting thrashed does to you.
We may not win these games, but we should expect the team to give a fight for it.

I don't really have an issue with what Seibold said in the presser... he was basically pointing out what has been said on this forum for years. There is something ingrained in this club when we come up against Melbourne... we kicked it out on the full twice FFS!!!

We had stupid errors that haven't been around since the early part of the season. They came up against Melbourne and collapsed to their knees. I'm glad Seibold didn't sugar coat the loss with tripe like we'll get over it and move onto next week... nah f.ck that make them sit through every second of that loss and show them where they got dominated.

Seibold is just putting it out to the playing group Melbourne is better than you... you want to beat them be better.

Gould saying he is deflecting it to somewhere else in the organisation is just BS. The guy has no idea about this club and took what he said as literal. To me Seibold is saying the club has something in their psyche that Melbourne is just better than them and the only way to start changing that is to acknowledge it, be angry about it and realise they are just a team of players like them and they are beatable...

**** them and be angry about our record against them. They are fucking lapping us... we should be the fucking benchmark not a bunch of expats living in Mexico

not to mention that Seibs never deflected blame ... that's just guys like Gould and Tallis taking a small portion of the PC and disregarding the rest.

Seibs pointed out a FACT, before going on to basically say that we sucked and pointed out a few of our issues from the game.

What was the crowd figure for the game does anyone know?

A coach making excuses will always be a bad look.

We’ve paid him 3 million bucks to change the culture, he has so far failed miserably so him pointing to the past is really fucking frustrating

Why would you want to change a culture instilled by the greatest coach of all time?

this ... there is nothing wrong with the clubs culture ... and Seibs isn't being paid to change it

Wow, that's some great long term thinking there. Let's just install a revolving door.

No point persisting with something that isnt working if thats the way it pans out.

@Foordy I could be wrong, but I believe @Dash’s comment was tongue-in-cheek. Could be wrong.

If Siebold’s been paid $3m for ~8-9 months work, then I’m a monkeys uncle. FFS, the hyperbole keeps breaking new ground.

He has a 5 year 600k contract afaik.

Call me queer, but I would like to see Boyd extend his professional influence onto the field.

Blame the coach for picking him. And i dont think he is unprofessional even on the field, he just isnt the same player he was and cant influence games the way he once did.

I personally don’t want that, but that’s why he’s here is it not?

Sorry, but I think you need to show at little more patience , and have a longer term view.

So, if Wayne was paid over $1M per season while he was here, he sure must’ve been contributing part of the culture we’re supposedly in. Glad that the board is doing a better job financially buy paying Seibold only half of it to clean out & change the culture. Either way, I see it a win-win for the club.

Say what you want but the richest team by a country mile with the most supporters and the biggest pool of playing talent not winning a premiership in over 12 years is completely unacceptable, we should be doing what storm are doing not slinging rocks with bottom dwellers like the Sydney clubs barely struggling to survive to the next season.

Everything needs a rebuild.

I dont think i do need to show any patience at all. We are an elite club with resources and facilities the envy of the competition, we shouldnt tolerate underachievement, and thats whats happening right now, we are underachieving.

Like i said, if we have a collapse until the end of the year, he should be booted out quick sharp. We have already clearly gone backwards from last year. If we finish the year on a whimper he deserves no favours from anyone. If he can get this team showing a lot more until the end of the year, lets see how he starts off next year. Lets see if his reworking of our roster is worth the current mediocrity we are going through.
