There's a difference here that you seem to have missed. With all the other groups you listed, there was a choice or decision made at some point that led people to become either an alcoholic, thief, adulterer, drug addict or a liar. Homosexuals don't make a choice or decision to be homosexual.
Also any of the other groups can choose to correct their behaviour. How do you suggest a homosexual correct their behaviour? There was a reason it was singled out, and rightly so. It's not on the same plane as the other things.
For the record, I'm neither a religious person nor a Folau hater. I think the punishment was very severe, considering some of the things sports people have done.
I agree with everything you have just said.
However, the key thing here is Izzy is being hung out to dry, for his faith, why is Izzy copping all the punishment for the system he believes in?
Should it not be the church and the church leaders being punished?
Does Izzy not deserve the right to freedom of speech or the right to believe in a faith he chooses?
In no way is Izzy the instigator of these beliefs, he is a follower of a religion, not its creator, he did not dictate their religious laws, he just follows them.
If Izzy has lost his career and income over his beliefs, shouldn't we hunt down and sack ALL the followers of this religion? Why is it only him who has copped this level of punishment?
Its insanity.
I am not a religious person, i could care less what someone else chooses to believe.
I also think everyone can make their own decisions on how they live their life, i do not however, believe it is right to punish someone for having a different belief system to my own.
We are bordering on a dangerous trend if we allow this sort of thing to go unchecked.
Do we shut down all churches? I can tell you right now, under Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam, just to name a few, that homosexuality is considered a sin that WILL send you to hell.
I wholeheartedly disagree with that belief, but who the hell am i to tell someone else they cant believe it? Let alone lose their career and livlihood for believing something i don't.

Hypothetical: so he signs with the Broncos, continues to post these posts ostracising most of the fan base (as you said, he wasn’t just agreeing with sending gay people to hell), how do you think this situation goes for the club and the league in general?
I think it go's terribly from a PR perspective.
We would lose sponsors, and a considerable number of fans.
Do not misunderstand me, i am not condoning Israels beliefs or his actions.
I am however, appalled that a man has lost his job, his livelihood and a lot of money for believing in his chosen faith, weather i agree with it or not, and its sets a very dangerous precedence against freedom of choice/speech.
The religion should be banned before any one person is crucified for following it.
