Righto mate. I love how the media and other individuals pick and choose what they want to hear.
Izzy said many other groups, alcoholics, thieves, adulterers, drug addicts and liars all go to hell in his original post, yet all you merkins choose to focus on is the homosexual aspect, as though his post was JUST against them.
The loudest most easily offended group in his post came out swinging and have cost a man his career, his reputation and a whole lot of money, all because he is following the teachings of his religion. ( i should add i dont agree with Izzy's stance at all).

Shouldn't you snowflakes be targeting the religion that preaches this nonsense, not just one of its many many followers?
Izzy is misguided, but he never came out and exclusively targeted homosexuals, he targeted sinners based on his beliefs.

I am so sick and tired of the media and others crucifying him for following his religion.
What has happened to him has been a total injustice.
Is Izzy an idiot for what he believes? He sure is. However, he has EVERY right to follow the teachings of his religion without persecution, let alone financial loss and the loss of his career.

Wake up IBM, this is nonsense at its worst, and even if you don't agree with him ( i do not agree with him) he has every right to believe whatever he wants according to his faith.

If you want to hang someone out to dry mate, hang out his religion that pushes this propaganda in the fist place.

Hypothetical: so he signs with the Broncos, continues to post these posts ostracising most of the fan base (as you said, he wasn’t just agreeing with sending gay people to hell), how do you think this situation goes for the club and the league in general?

There's a difference here that you seem to have missed. With all the other groups you listed, there was a choice or decision made at some point that led people to become either an alcoholic, thief, adulterer, drug addict or a liar. Homosexuals don't make a choice or decision to be homosexual.

Also any of the other groups can choose to correct their behaviour. How do you suggest a homosexual correct their behaviour? There was a reason it was singled out, and rightly so. It's not on the same plane as the other things.

For the record, I'm neither a religious person nor a Folau hater. I think the punishment was very severe, considering some of the things sports people have done.

I agree with everything you have just said.
However, the key thing here is Izzy is being hung out to dry, for his faith, why is Izzy copping all the punishment for the system he believes in?
Should it not be the church and the church leaders being punished?
Does Izzy not deserve the right to freedom of speech or the right to believe in a faith he chooses?
In no way is Izzy the instigator of these beliefs, he is a follower of a religion, not its creator, he did not dictate their religious laws, he just follows them.
If Izzy has lost his career and income over his beliefs, shouldn't we hunt down and sack ALL the followers of this religion? Why is it only him who has copped this level of punishment?
Its insanity.

I am not a religious person, i could care less what someone else chooses to believe.
I also think everyone can make their own decisions on how they live their life, i do not however, believe it is right to punish someone for having a different belief system to my own.
We are bordering on a dangerous trend if we allow this sort of thing to go unchecked.
Do we shut down all churches? I can tell you right now, under Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam, just to name a few, that homosexuality is considered a sin that WILL send you to hell.
I wholeheartedly disagree with that belief, but who the hell am i to tell someone else they cant believe it? Let alone lose their career and livlihood for believing something i don't.

I think it go's terribly from a PR perspective.
We would lose sponsors, and a considerable number of fans.
Do not misunderstand me, i am not condoning Israels beliefs or his actions.
I am however, appalled that a man has lost his job, his livelihood and a lot of money for believing in his chosen faith, weather i agree with it or not, and its sets a very dangerous precedence against freedom of choice/speech.

The religion should be banned before any one person is crucified for following it.

I just want to point out by the way, that there is zero evidence of genetic predisposition to homosexuality.
In fact, recent studies have shown that genetics play almost no part in sexual orientation, and that, it does in fact, more often than not, come down to a lifestyle choice.

I do not agree nor disagree with this, just pointing out that this is mere speculation that homosexuality is, or is not a choice, and we cannot use this as evidence either way due to a lack of facts supporting either side.
Link to the data in recent studies.
Again, i have close friends who are gay, with one couple telling me he feels he was born gay, and another telling me he chose to be in his late teens.
So its inconclusive in using this as an argument here in regards to differentiating to alcoholics and thieves etc choosing to "improve" their situation.

Folau and his family literally invented their own church. All their beliefs are entirely their own fault. **** them.

There is no denying Israel is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I think he is easily influenced and footballers in general tend to not be the smartest blokes around ( a generalization, i know).
I also think he is a fool for what he posts, and is committing social suicide in doing so, especially in todays climate.
I just cant help but be seriously concerned that a man has lost his career, his ability to provide for his family, etc over his beliefs.
I would be more inclined to shut down organized religion altogether before destroying one mans life for believing in it.

Mate he hasn't lost anything apart from a privilege. He can go earn $30\hour for his family like the rest of us if he doesn't like earning the millions with a few little strings attached.

Their beliefs are in line with most major religions.
As i said, If you look at the religious laws of Christianity, Catholicism and Islam, they all share the exact same belief that homosexuality is a sin, punishable by eternal damnation.
Its religious insanity at its worst, it also, is in NO WAY Israels fault. He is a follower, he didn't make up these beliefs, Their religion and whatever branch of it they follow did.

How can Israel be solely responsible for this, to the point of losing his career?
Why dont ALL OTHER Christians, Catholics and Muslims lose their jobs over their beliefs?

I know mate, and i agree, he has made enough money to last several lifetimes, but that is not the point.
The point is, he has lost his career and potential earnings because of his faith, while others who believe the exact same thing, get a free pass.
I will just point out once again, i in no way agree with Israels beliefs or views, in fact i find them abhorrent and hateful.
But its getting really murky in terms of what is freedom and what is not.
Should all christians/catholics and muslims lose their jobs because they believe the same thing?

They can believe what they like. But to go preaching it to a worldwide audience is fucked up. Consider how many 7-16 year olds would have considered Izzy an absolute idol. Maybe you can see through his bullshit but there are a large number of impressionable young people who see him as a hero that will take every single thing he says onboard, and that's not right.

Yep i agree.
Its terrible behavior and incredibly irresponsible on Israels behalf.
Its hateful bullshit, and it has no place in our society.
That being said, organized religion preaches this to the world every single sunday, to a huge contingent of people.
You have people like Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, who are far more famous than Izzy following religions that preach the same ideals to a much larger group.
What i take away from this whole situation is that organized religion is a massive problem. I just dont think destroying one mans career is the solution to the problem. In fact, i think its detrimental as it provokes this whole freedom of belief rhetoric.

I'm sure there is also zero evidence of genetic predisposition to whether a man prefers blondes or red heads. Or VB or XXXX. You just like what you like.

To try to answer your other question as to why Folau is being singled out. It's a hard one. I think people should be entitled to believe what they like. As long as it doesn't impinge on other people's rights and beliefs. I'll put it like this. If there was two buildings beside each other, and in one, people celebrated the idea that we have a spiritual connection to the earth. And in the other they believed we had a spiritual connection to the sky. There is no problem there. No one hurting anyone, people believing whatever they want.

Now if those people started to hassle each other, and force their beliefs on the others, that's where I think a line is crossed. And that is where Folau went wrong. Believe whatever you want, but don't try to force it down everyone else's throat. Or try paint everyone with the same brush. What gives anyone that right? To declare that solely their belief is right, and everyone else is wrong.

Yea mate, i agree, believe what you like, so long as it doesn't hurt others.
But honestly, Israel playing football or not, wont make a difference, as this stuff is being taught to the masses every Sunday all across the country.
Israel is the fall guy for a much larger problem.

I'm an Atheist, Midean...... I am one of those groups he attacked. I don't need to be reminded who he attacked, I frankly don't give a shit. I just give a shit that he attacked.

I'm going to Hell because I don't share his faith is the implication. And I'm supposed to feel sorry for him? It was a hostile, unprovoked bellow from the soapbox. He wanted attention and he got it. All of it.

I am an Atheist as well, and fall into the group going to hell also. I should apologize for coming at you the way i did in the original post, i re-read it, and it was a bit harsh on my part.
I am frustrated with the fact that Israel lost his job over his beliefs (no matter how daft they might be).
Does he deserve to lose his job for spouting nonsense on social media?
Most of us reading it don't believe his bullshit, and when i first saw his tweets i put it down to him being a religious nutjob and gave it no credibility whatsoever.
I never once watched Izzy play football based on anything he said off the field.
Tell me this, was what Israel did any worse than what Russel Packer did, or Matt Lodge, or Dylan Walker? All guys still playing football as we speak?

Are we to believe that a man can lose his career based on a couple of stupid tweets, based on a religious law that millions of people across our country follow?
Yet we allow perpetrators of domestic violence and thuggery to play on?
Batshit crazy if you ask me.
