2020 Round 1 Line up

Tonga has modelled the game the Broncs should use. Little in the halves and not much in the backline but an absolutely devastating forward pack. Smash the opposition and play ad lib on the back of that. It is impossible to defend against. Sure you’ll have bad games but nothing could be worse than 58-0.

Yep, but that is impossible to do with Macca at hooker, needs to be Turpin. When Macca gets an offload he stands there like a deer in the headlights, Turps knows what to do straight off the bat.

but He is still learning the game and how to manage a team.

So the alternative to that is to sign Croft who is still in the same boat?

I like Croft and I wouldn't mind having him in the side but let's not pretend we will be buying the finished product here. He is still learning the game and he still has a lot of work to do before he will be the kind of player that could turn this club around.

Staggs was and remains my pick for FB. For mine he could be the next Tedesco after a season or two.

I do not think croft is the final product but he is further along in his development than dearden. Most halves do not start to reach their peak until about 26.

To say that dearden (who has about 5 games in nrl and less than a season in ISC and not in a game managing capacity) in comparison to a half with approx 40 nrl games, plus more in ISC, mentored by cronk, has played in world challenge cups and is the junior kangaroos half are in the same boat is not accurate.

That's because they list TPJ as a prop still, he's probably going to be playing right edge back row for us, assuming Carrigan earns that starting lock job, like I think he will.

Starting: Fifita, TPJ
Bench: Glenn
Depth: Palasia, Bullemor, Riki

That'll be fine.
Bullemor is predominantly a prop

Write off next year folks. It doesn't matter who we field, with a cap as compromised as this, we're fucked. We aren't in a much better state than the Dogs found themselves in a couple of years ago.

Boyd and Kahu's desperation for one last pay cheque have royally fucked us. Even the retirement of Gillett has left us little better off.
why are you all freaking the **** out when we are about to get cap space from gillett retirement and cap space if the tigers take Milford we will have about 1.5 million in cap a season for the next few years to resign Fifita and get croft as well as even a Sezer or Blake green as well.... or if not we save the money and have Sean O'Sullivan play instead.

The only piss take here is shiba being captain. The rest is a grim reality.
the piss take is that shiba is in the side let alone captain, kahu and McCullough is in the 17 as well as kennedy mago, and palasia. staggs and bird is on the bench, boyd is starting fullback, kennar is in the side, haas isn't

1. A large chunk of Gillett's money will now be paying Kahu's salary.
2. Milford won't be leaving his cushy job/pay packet here anytime soon.
3. We won't even pay the Storm only 400k for Croft now.
4. Sezer is going to England.
5. SOS won't be playing till at least July/August due to injury.

Without Milf we have no 6 and very little attacking threat.

Croft, Green, Sezer, Dearden, SOS, Paix, etc. Every player you have named is a halfback, but provide very little attacking threat inside the 20m... we would be able to put on some clean structured plays, but we'd look like those teams that just throw block play after block play at the opposition watching them shuffle side to side in defence.

People are seriously underestimating the importance of Milf to this side.

You lose Milf a 25yr old genuine 6 who has had no spine around him since 2016, he ends up getting replaced with a reckless snap decision like a 3yr deal for Cody Walker @ 31.

Not sure about being the next Tedesco but he has shown he has the ability to be fullback. He is a little tank and could be devastating at fullback.

This backline would have some firepower.

1. Staggs
2. Oates
3. Perese
4. Bird
5. Isaako/Farnsworth
6. Milf
7. Dearden

You are right about Milf having no spine 😂

no it won't

if, as it has been reported, the terms of the release state that Kahu had the ability to return to us in 2020 on his same contract value, then we already would have accounted for his 2020 salary in our cap management.

if he choose to re-sign with the Cowboys or decided to sign elsewhere, then we would have had that money to give to Fifita or sign Croft or upgrade others

If we don’t try to recruit anyone over the next couple of years and focus solely on developing and retaining our current players, we could have an amazing team by 2022. Assuming all these players continue to improve.
  1. Jamayne Isaako
  2. Xavier Coates
  3. Izaia Perese
  4. Kotoni Staggs
  5. Jesse Arthars
  6. Corey Paix
  7. Thomas Dearden
  8. Matthew Lodge
  9. Jake Turpin
  10. Payne Haas
  11. Corey Oates
  12. David Fifita
  13. Tevita Pangai
  14. Tesi Niu
  15. Patrick Carrigan
  16. Thomas Flegler
  17. Joe Ofahengaue

Disagree

He's way closer to being that player than a 19yo halfback who's played 5 games

Those games you mentioned are all well and good, but they mean **** all because the Croft you see today isn't any different to the Croft that first started, which is why he is in and out of the Storm side.

He's a young half with **** all experience that's still learning the game and still learning how to manage a team. He's absolutely in the same boat.

What we'll get with Croft isn't going to be any different to what we'll get with Dearden or O'Sullivan (who was also mentored by Cronk). We'll be getting a young half who still has a lot of work to do.

Bullemor is predominantly a prop

He has played every game I've ever seen him at prop, but I think you can see enough in his game to see he could be a devastating edge runner.
