the club is a great opportunity for the Cowboys and hopefully we can get his signature.”

Vals wife is best friends with T.O's girlfriend, and she's been spending a fair bit of time back in Townsville lately. Kind of makes sense if he is moving back to NQ.

I think Mitchell is a bigger risk at full back. He’s one of the laziest players I’ve ever seen, doesn’t bode well for a FB.

Edit: I still have faith that Isaako will have a CNK like breakout season for us next year.

Yeah my comment certainly wasn't a comparison about who is the bigger risk, I was just saying at a million a year, I view Holmes as risky

No doubt in my mind that a mill a year for LM to play fullback is a bigger risk, in fact in my mind it's complete madness

If LM gets over his laziness, he'll probably be the best player in the game.
Needs a real tough love coach, Green is not that.

Jake Clifford would probably disagree [emoji16]

Honestly I'm beginning to think that there a very few players in the game at the moment who are actually worth paying a $1Mil out of the salary cap for.

Not enough of them who are wanting that sort of money actually produce week in week out or consistently step up and win games for you, which is what they need to be doing.

I agree but I'll say I don't see any players in the comp who deserve a million a season. However, if a million a season is the top whack and it's what the markets willing to pay then I can only think of one player who is worth the best money available.

Smith, T’lolo, Tedesco, Turbo brothers (if Tom can stay on the park). That’s all I can think of.
As good as he is, I wouldn't pay Jake Turbo anywhere near $1 million. Workhouse locks are a dime a dozen and even a very, very good one I wouldn't pay more than $700-750k for.

Players who are worth a million currently (not based on potential, based on performance):

1. Smith
2. Tedesco
3. RTS
4. Taumololo
5. Haas

That's it. TTurbo on ability is but he is injury prone.

That's kind of the interesting thing about the Mitchell situation though.

As a Centre, he's worth 750-800k at a maximum, and the Roosters obviously felt the same given they apparently offered him that already and they obviously have no intention to use him as a Fullback.

Mitchell as a Fullback though, that is a slightly different scenario. He comes with a fair element of risk obviously, but he certainly does have all the skillset and physical attributes to be a pretty elite level Fullback, and if a club was prepared to take him on in that role, suddenly 800k is at the minimum range of what Mitchell might be able to command given how hard it is to secure an elite standard Fullback and how important that role now is in the modern game.

Personally it's probably got too much risk for me, but I could easily see other clubs being prepared to take the leap on him for closer to the 1 million dollar mark, and that's no doubt what his manager is telling him at the moment too. Honestly if he hadn't left his run so late to look at options outside the Roosters I reckon he might have had more options than he already has.

I would. He’s extremely underrated IMO.
Not sure how he can be underrated? He's amongst the best in his position?

Outside Taumalolo though none of the elite middle Forwards command anything like a million a season and I don't think he fits in JT's league to justify the same money even if he is amongst the next best after JT.

Don't underestimate how well he ball plays. The combo with DCE and TTurbo running off him provided a few tries for manly this year.

And name a better defensive player than Jake. His tackling technique is easily the best in the league

If Lolo is worth a mil then Haas is as well. Arguably better than Lolo already and he’ll only improve unless he cops a major injury.

Haas probably is worth a million if he has another season or two like the one he just had.

He's locked up long term by us, but theoretically if he went to market with two more seasons like 2019 under his belt he's easily fielding million dollar a season offers.

Underrated by fans. If you watch every little one percenter he is responsible for, he’s simply a phenomenal player, both defensively and offensively.
Perhaps by some fans maybe. He's perhaps not as headline grabbing as some others (most middle forwards aren't though) but I honestly don't think the majority of fans would argue that he's an absolutely elite middle forward and in anyone's language that should rule him out as being underrated.

Internally, I had that thought too. I giggled to myself knowing we have a million dollar player at half the cost, so didn’t include him.

I don’t think RTS should be in the million plus category.
Curious that you rate J Turbo so highly for the 1% stuff but don't see the same in RTS?

RTS arguably contributes more to a far worse Warriors side than J Turbo does to Manly. The numbers don't tell the whole story (though they are phenominal anyway) but if you take RTS out of the Warriors they're probably getting a a few spoons these last few seasons.

My one and only ? Tedesco in his current form. Just the last couple of years. T'lolo, nope. I'm a bit like WB about overpaying forwards. Smith from 5 years ago, possibly. Turbro ,great players yes but I'd max out at 750k for them.

I might not build the most successful team but it would definitely be 'within the budget'.😃

Haas for me isnt a million dollar player yet and i honestly dont think he is better than Taumalolo just yet. I think he will be better, and i think he will be a million dollar player, but at the moment he has to back up his first year and we need to see how he adapts his game when teams come up with a way to nullify his game a little. I dont see too many dramas with him reaching his vast potential tbh.
