NEWS Badel: Seibold won't send Darius to QLD Cup

I think people are perhaps getting a bit carried away with a pre-season fluff piece article from prior to Christmas.

Realistically, if Seibold comes out and publicly dumps Boyd to Queensland Cup in December, that will be literally our entire pre-season focus from a media perspective. You honestly won't hear the end of it until Round 1 has kicked off. The only people who win then are the hacks at the Courier Mail who don't have to make an effort to find any content for the rest of the break and pre-season.

I have absolutely no problem with Seibold coming out and saying he needs to win his spot like everyone else and he'll be given a chance to prove he can still cut it. Realistically, he's the incumbent Captain and if he's going to be dumped from the Captaincy, or the 17, or not dumped at all, Seibold would be far better to leave that call as long as possible and keep his cards close to his chest. The fans might well be hungry for an answer, but realistically it's the media whipping up the fanfare around it all. We really shouldn't be buying into their self interest.

Realistically, we're paying Boyd good money next year and there is nothing wrong with giving him a pre-season in a non-spine role like the others to see if he has anything to offer before we throw that money away. We already have Kahu on 400k, so if we discard them both without at least seeing for sure what he has left to offer, we're going to have well over a million bucks sitting in Queensland Cup. That's not a good reason alone to pick them, but it definitely deserves some consideration.

I'm not saying Boyd doesn't need to earn his spot like anyone else. He absolutely does. But I don't see any reason to dump him to Queensland Cup this far out, and even if that was the case, I certainly don't think we have anything to gain by giving the Courier Mail the inside scoop this side of Christmas.

If they had of sent Boyd back 2 - 3 years ago when his form was failing him this conversation isn't happening.

He would of got the shock he needed or would of walked by now.

Seibs doesn’t need to send Darius to qcup. Darius can take a knee on the bench every week but also help the boys warm up

Just like Cooper Cronk when he took the knee instead of tackling Isaako.

Didn't see the replay then? Dived the opposite way, probably trying to avoid contact, pea heart.
I think once a year it can be excused, especially seeing as Cronk won a little thing called the premiership. Boyd's non-efforts number in the double digits somewhere. Plus you are completely ignoring the sublime excellence of the step involved.

If you look closely, you can see the moment Cooper knows he committed wrongly.

With Boyd you can see the moment he goes 'nope'.

Yeah I've seen it a million times over. You're seeing shit.

Not to mention Boyd being sold a dummy against Melbourne by a fucking front row forward when the percentage play would have been to go for the front rower who rarely find themselves in a 2 on 1 scenario during a game.

And also being wrong footed by (in all due respect) Michael fucking Chee Kam and Tyrone Roberts

Pretty sure MCK scored a similar try against another team this season.

I don't think he was wrong-footed by MCK at all.

Depends on your interpretation of wrong footed.

Boyd was running to the left at a considerable pace and then MCK changed direction and Boyd slipped over.

Still don't get it do you? I'll make it easy for you. Isaako stepped Cronk and made him look foolish. It happens and anyone would have looked stupid. The exact same thing happened to Boyd . Difference was astounding. It could happen to anyone. Just to clarify, I was kidding.

I had him at about six. I'd like to see a list so we don't have to believe it is hyperbole
