NEWS Badel: Seibold won't send Darius to QLD Cup

You would think Boyd would realize he was the last line of defence and needed to make the extra effort.

That's what good experienced fullbacks do.

What else does a fullback do in defence, except be the absolute last line of defence though?

He has a little C, he's held to a higher standard, and if there were poor efforts, that's on him too, sort your team out Darbs.
Here we go again. What about the first line of defence? Where were they? Taking knees and laying on their backs as well. Instead of talking about Boyd’s poor efforts (which I have already agreed with, geniuses), why aren’t we talking about the rest of the poor efforts? Because they aren’t captains? He’s the only one held to any standards for those efforts. And he would be even without the C next to his name

So extra effort, or non-effort? Because without repeating myself again, that’s all I’m fucking disputing.

Yep, as I've said before, if we had someone other than Boyd at 5/8 in the last game of the season we would have won. It was entirely his fault. Probably would've been a 70 point turnaround.

Oh no, I already said anyone who believes he wasn’t trying is an idiot soooooo
Can you explain how a "non-effort", of which you have said there were 6, is different from "not trying"?

I'm not talking about the others, nor do I have any interest in talking about them. I'm talking about our captain and his role in the team.

The thread is about Boyd.

It’s not. I believe he was trying and there were no non-efforts. I agreed that we could settle with about six very poor efforts but if you think he wasn’t trying then you’re an idiot. That simple really

Every thread is about Boyd these days.

Way to spin it to make it look like I’m defending the efforts though guys. He was trying but failed, that’s all. Anyone saying otherwise is incorrect but it’s cool to keep saying otherwise because it’s funny and hasn’t been said a million times already.

They're spelt different....
It was actually just a mistake to agree to that wording, but I was agreeing to there being about six (off the top of my head) very poor efforts from Boyd throughout the year.

So he was trying when Roberts just ran right around him? He was trying when he threw his hands up in the air instead of making some attempt to stop Tedesco?

If you think he was trying in all of them, you're delusional.

Wouldn’t expect you to try and find the positive side of a topic. If he wasn’t trying he would be getting investigated for match fixing. But yeah, I’m the delusional one. Why don’t one of you go to training and ask him if he wasn’t trying?

Wait.. isn't everyone referring to the 6 or so poor (non) efforts you're talking about? I don't think anyone here is saying he lacks effort outside of those events, they're exclusively referring to all those times he just "got bamboozled" by the opponent.

Boyd tried his hardest for probably 98% of every game this season, but the 2% where he decided to mail it in were a fucking crucial 2%, and as it's been said a million times, for someone who is objectively the fittest person at the club, and someone who is the captain of the club, and someone who is extremely experienced at the back, and someone who is not forced to defend in the front line and make a bunch of tackles and hit-ups every set, SHOULD have the fitness & mental fortitude to put in his all for every single bit of action that comes his way, offensively & defensively.

Oh no, people are saying he wasn’t trying and allowed them to score without attempting to stop them. It’s just unfortunate that the 2% was the same time the rest of the team “stopped trying”.

I can think of 2 where he legitimately didn't make any effort at all, but in fairness one of those it wouldn't have made a difference - the Crichton try and the Tedesco try. The Roberts one looked worse but I believe that was simply a case of a bloke who is physically past it being made to look silly by a younger, faster player.

Twice is two times too many, especially from the captain of a young team.

Twice is still 8 less than double digits, which is the only thing I’m actually disputing without it being twisted.

It doesn't matter what he says, because the footage says it all.

He didn't make any attempt. If you're not doing that, you're not trying. Just because someone may think they are trying, it doesn't mean they actually are.

None of the front line players stopped trying in any of the situations we're talking about though, they either missed tackles or were extremely fatigued at the end of games, which is disappointing, but not anywhere near the same level of thing we saw from Darius a few times.
