NEWS Badel: Seibold won't send Darius to QLD Cup

Every thread is about Boyd these days.

Way to spin it to make it look like I’m defending the efforts though guys. He was trying but failed, that’s all. Anyone saying otherwise is incorrect but it’s cool to keep saying otherwise because it’s funny and hasn’t been said a million times already.

Oh yes, he's very trying.

What do you want us to talk about instead in this thread about our wonderful captain.

I was ready to cut Boyd some slack for some of those efforts where he got stepped but I drew the line in the Eels game when he turned his back on that cross field kick. Whether it’s effort-based or not doesn’t really matter, the outcomes were still the same. In saying that, Boyd did have a few good games this season and if he can play to that standard on the wing when I won’t mind him being there.

Maybe the key takeout from all this should really be:

If your best efforts, trying as hard as you possibly can, are on a consistent basis leading to outcomes that are so poor that people are seriously calling into question the amount of effort you are really making, perhaps it's time to face the reality that your very best simply isn't good enough anymore.

Do you have any guesses as to why he turned his back? I have an idea but I'd like to hear yours first.

Here we go again. What about the first line of defence? Where were they? Taking knees and laying on their backs as well. Instead of talking about Boyd’s poor efforts (which I have already agreed with, geniuses), why aren’t we talking about the rest of the poor efforts? Because they aren’t captains? He’s the only one held to any standards for those efforts. And he would be even without the C next to his name

Because half the team is under 25 with huge potential. Boyd is the most experienced player in our team, one of the highest paid, and the captain. He also offers next to nothing in attack and hasn’t for years, the only skill he’s meant to excel at is his defence .

I’m not going to guess his intentions, personality, or effort level, but the guy is a squid. Completely useless.

Cool. You’ll be arguing with yourself if that’s your argument because literally nobody is saying otherwise. They were piss poor efforts, but efforts nonetheless.

I never said we shouldn’t talk about him in the relevant threads, but this is entirely beside the point. I was simply asking why the others escaped criticism for allowing the line break in the first place. Shit, people were laying on the floor or had the player circled and still couldn’t make the tackle. It was embarrassing for all of them, not just Boyd.

They don't escape it. Stop talking about them if you are talking to me. I'm talking about the captain, and his actions, not the others. It's not that much of a struggle is it?

I was responding to the part where you said Boyd is being held to a standard different to other players. There are reasons for thatZ

Sure they don’t. Can you name the ten plus non-efforts from Boyd throughout the year without a smart ass comment? I’m happy to hear it, because again, that’s all I’m disputing here.

He’s the only one being held to any standards on those plays. But the mods have weirdly started drawing a line at off topic conversations today, so I’ll drop it.

I’ll repeat my stance on Boyd again because it seems my opinion has been spun. He’s well past it. I wouldn’t even have him in my 2020 team. He should have been dropped last year for these poor efforts. But how high are the standards he’s held to if he’s getting this much criticism still? He more than likely won’t make his 15 games next year and this is just another dishonest article to keep the Broncos in the news. Boyd is living rent free in BHQ’s brain and the whole topic was tiresome months ago. I just don’t get why some people feel the need to voice the same opinions numerous times over and over again. It’s weird but go for it guys. Merry Boydmas everybody! And a happy Boyd year to all.

Rounds 1 through 10. The other 15 if you want more.

Good chat

Well what do you want me to say. There are two blokes on planet earth that doesn't think he deserves to cop it for his rubbish attempt at being a footballer these last two years. He's one, you're the other.

1.MCK
2.Roberts.
3.Tedesco
4. In the same game standing there and watching a Roosters player score from a metre or 2 away
5.Turning his back on a bomb vs Eels
6. Not attacking a grubber vs Souths, I could make a case for this happening twice in this game, he fell over again the other time but I'll stick to the one.
7. Falling for a dummy to nobody instead of attempting to tackle the Storm front rower.

That list took a minute to come up with and was off the top of my head, if I went through the tribute thread again I reckon I could easily double the list. I know for a fact there are a few more occasions where he took the softest option every time by attempting intercept instead of a tackle which was the correct option, I also consider those non-efforts.

I think the point thats trying to be made is that he's not solely to blame for those instances (some of them anyway). If we weren't being cut to ribbons constantly throughout the season, he wouldn't have made so many errors. I'm sure there are occasions where there were line breaks (because our defensive structures were fucked) where he made the correct defensive read but nobody remembers them because it doesn't support their position.
