That’s what I’ve been said since last season, unfortunately most fans here make excuses for Oates being a young father
He just doesn't have the skills of other finishers. Hands are terrible. The no try where he got held up before isaako was penalised was terrible. He didn't even try to go low to the line. He has no polish. I think he will make a decent second rower. He should have been dropped a month ago. Boyd and Oates should not be picked again. Id move Oates on to another club in the off season if we can

Did you keep a close eye on the 10m? Were either side onside the entire game?

Flanagan at times seemed to be taking the piss.
You’re not wrong there. I watched sporadically and every time I noticed him being offside.

That sounds like hyperbole, but it isn’t. Every single time, he was offside. And from scrums, he was a good 3-5 metres offside - only saw him get pinged once off the scrum though.

Just been to Lang park for the storm v roosters game.
Holy shit unbelievable.
We have to play the storm in just over 2 weeks.
If we’re offered a 59 - 0 loss I say we take it with both hands.
We are going to get absolutely flogged.
Nice, I wish I went I thought it was at the Sunshine Coast.
Hopefully the Storm run and hit just as hard as they did last night and show our guys how it's done.

So with Lodge out and Oates now earning a recall on the Bench, has it been explained to him that now he'll be the one expected to play the last 15 minutes of the game at Fullback for some apparent reason?

I don't even recognise that player anymore...

Neither do I. He's given up, given up trying his hardest, for the team, for himself. He may have the skills to score amazing tries however if he doesn't want to anymore, for whatever reason, to put in @110%, then his skills in scoring tries counts for nothing

Trying hard is a talent every bit as important, if not more, than doing acrobatic touchdowns, or fancy footwork to beat a defender, and I'd say that that applies to at least half this side. What's the point of having the best skills if one just gives up when the going gets tough?

What's worse is that giving up is a disease that soon infects the whole side. If you look at the Storm last night, nobody gave up. Not for a minute. When the going got tough, everyone got going. It helped of course whe Brandon Smith went out there and just said **** this, I'm gonna show everyone how it's done. And he did, and he inspired everyone.

The last 30 seconds were telling. They were looking down the barrel, yet what they did was methodically get into position for that field goal, and snapped it with 10 seconds or less to go. Hats off to the lot of them. That sort of courage and discipline wins premierships against teams like the Roosters who have more skills talent than the most of the Storm players, except not giving up and trying your best for the whole 80 minutes.

Seibold ought to get our team watch that match over and over and over. That is how you win matches.

What's his execution rate? One shiny example does not make up for the multiple examples of poor positioning, bad hands and poor technical skill. He grew up playing in the forwards. It shows.

That's from 2018 when we last remembered we had a player out on the left wing.
He had 18 tries from 23 games so pretty good.
In 2019 he scored 13 tries - most via cut out from Darius or Milf - zero from Shiba. One from running a 2nd row line on the right combining with Milford again.
Once Darius moved to centre that was it and we have what we have now.

Everything about those two teams is spot on. Even the relationship the coach has with the players after the game is telling. Of course, in our position, that is going to be hard to find but can you imagine how Bellamy would react to the mob we have out there?

Hopefully this gives Oates a wake up call. That he can get dropped of he continues hes poor form.

I think Bellamy's reaction would be, at the very least, to see the bleeding obvious after Rd 3 that our defence was shit, was utterly not competitive against the best sides who have accelerated the game to new heights not seen before, and, he would then have immediately moved to start changing it. It might not change immediately as it's a whole-of-team issue, a structure, but he would deal with it, and then at the same time, player attitude.

This is what I reckon is Seibold's greatest failing - our defensive structure, and following that, player attitude.

He doesn't deserve to be in this team on his current form.

He’s scored some absolute rippers mate. He’s fallen off a cliff tho.

Where did it come from? The size of his gut?

Think we can credit @McHunt for the nickname thanks to this thread title -

Yeah it’s a keeper. It needs to be spread into the wider public.

And a 'meat-pie/s' is synonymous with a try/tries.

So pies would have to signify an extreme lack of, and in this case especially in the second halves. So unfortunately it sort of ties in quite nicely at present.
Pies it is then, or does @McHunt want to take it to a vote?

Can't sorry, subject to gag order.
