Who should it be?

Man I’d love for a Bennett/Walters combo and then I can do this to Fifita!

Slothfield reckons we should go with Paul Green, not Kevvie

sights a whole lot of club legends that sucked at club coaches (Freddie Fittler, Dean Pay, Wayne Pearce, Mick Cronin)

then says that good Origin coaches don't necessarily make good club coaches ... he uses Bellamy as an example.

Pale Green was a former nrl player, he spent time in the sun during his playing career and has won a premiership as a coach. Why isn't it possible for KW?

I'd prefer to get Flanagan for 2022 and seek his imput about players for 2021, obviously not as a coach mind you, just an 'advisor' role in 21. A stand in head coach would be annointed, say Neil Henry who might then drop back to assistant to Flanagan.

It's great to have dreams!

Pale Green should be careful spending too much time in the sun...

Not FlanAgain! Ole Peptide Pete? He would sure supplement our team well

Lot of strange annointing (sic) going on here

they shouldn't bring Bennett back ... for us to move forward, we need to move on

Yeah they tried moving forward by sacking Bennett and appointing siebold and how’d that work out?
If that’s moving on we can do without it.

if we can't win a premiership without Bennett being involved we might as well shut down the club right now.

I actually don’t care who’s on board if we can win a premiership.
Ruling anyone out who might help only lessens our chances for no reason.

To be honest WBs time as coach for us is truly over but I'd be happy with him in a different role if a role that suited could be created. I think he's got a lot to offer us and I know he genuinely loves the club.

If he did have a strong backroom role he'd need an iron willed head coach, someone who wouldn't be intimidated AND that's something that WB would respect. You all know who I'd pick and I believe he's that kind of man.

I'm not optimistic about the future right at this moment unless we get a tough motherfucker with ability with Bellamy being the best but probably totally unrealistic. I don't see either of KW or Green getting us to the top but I may be surprised should one of them get the nod.

I don't normally feel unsettled with the coaching merry go round but this next appointment is absolutely critical. The doom and gloom forecasters might be right this time and that does worry me. I wish Flanagan was available for 21 and I think he'd get serious consideration if he was. In fact of the three I'd say he'd be the clear favourite.

Maybe I’m still scarred from the 2015 gf loss but something just doesn’t sit right with appointing the coach that beat us.
You got that right. He always struck me as whiney little ****. Just saying 🤣 I really don't want him and KWs inexperienced which makes me only half keen on him. I really would like to know who they are considering because I cannot believe it's between those two. It's similar to the last us election except KWs not a haggard old slag like Clit on is. I mean, neither choice fills me with confidence.

That and he rode the coattails of Thurston, one of my closest mates is a cowboys nut job and he hates green for a plethora of reasons all coaching related. If we get him, we will be mediocre for another 10 years.

I don’t like Green for a couple of reasons

the 1-17 meme where he wouldn’t drop players, and also stayed too loyal to his barely-winning premiership side

his (and JT’s) bleating in press conferences about ‘we waz robbed’ after games. You can be critical of refs without giving the impression you deserve to be given the upper hand by refs which is what it ended up being because when teams think of are told they’re good, they don’t believe they do anything wrong.

Plus he just doesn’t strike me as a good coach

He had a 2 minute premiership window and managed to have a game handed to him in that time.

inb4 someone says ‘yeah but what about B2B with Wynnum-Manly?’ - that was almost a decade ago.

2017-2020 seasons W/L %

57% - despite making the grand final, fell into 8th place losing 5 of their last 6
33%
38%
30%* (10 games)

This can and will probably be dismissed as some anti-Cowboys revisionist history, but I just don’t think Green is what we want or need.
