Gold Coast Titans Discussion

Might get this done for you after team list is released tomorrow. I would like to see what Holbrook has planned for Peachey with Arrow back. Whether Peachey starts at 13 or not could indicate his plans for lock next year with both Tino and Ese'ese also having played a little there this year for their respective teams.

Note: Prior to a couple games ago I wouldn't have wanted Peach near the side but he has actually done fairly well at lock surprisingly. Cut out the penalties etc and he could be solid moving forward.

I think he'd be decent at lock next year or even at hooker depending on who the Titans sign. If I were the Titans, I'd be looking at Jake Friend and John Asiata though.

Though we have been linked for near a year now, I am not sold on Asiata anymore mostly due to his injuries. Our forward pack is already pretty strong going forward and his ball playing shouldn't be needed with Peach at lock. Friend would be a decent option though as hooker is a definite weakness currently. Not sure he would leave Sydney though as from what I hear he has some successful coffee shops etc. so wouldn't need the money and uprooting near the end of his career may be too much. Think we are more a chance at one of the Storm lot (praying).

Yeah I agree with you. Asiata is not needed. He'd be more suited as a buy if Peach left the club to go back to NSW.

Their forward pack is shaping up nicely. Not sure where Tino will be lining up but personally I'd be tempted to have both Tino and Fifita on the edges.

I reckon you guys should chase Friend, he would be great in your side or to be honest, even go after McCullough/Turpin. Any of those guys would help sure up your middle and if you can find another centre somewhere, you are pretty set. If the Broncos don't go after him, I'd go after Opacic.

1. Brimson
2. Spry/Sami
3. Kelly
4. Opacic
5. Don/Sami
6. Taylor
7. Fogarty
8. Phototaker
9. Friend/Macca/Turps
10. Wallace
11. Fifita
12. Foulsmellingodour
13. Ese'ese

14. Peachey
15. Lisone
16. Fermor
17. Proctor

I don't know man, that bench is dodgy, I reckon Holbrook will mix those starters up a bit because otherwise, when the starters go off, you guys are going to go to mud when the bench comes on.

I can't say I have seen much of Opacic this year, mostly stuck to watching Broncos/Titans with the occasional other game mixed in. Thought he was solid in his stint at the Bronx a couple years ago and was surprised he was let go tbh. Of the current off contract list he does seem to be the main option though. I'm going to leave it to Holbrook on the 9 front as I admit to having no idea. Most would be an upgrade though. On current form Rein seems like he is capable of getting us through 2021 if need be but has been hot and cold.

Given his one year contract I am hoping Proctor is mostly for depth and experience at this point. In that case I feel you're both forgetting Joliffe who has been getting close to Mo as our most consistent prop this season. Would prefer him replacing Proctor on your bench Sproj and it improves it 10 fold imo. 2 FR, a 2R and a utility seems to be the go these days I think. Fair amount of wriggle room with the forward pack and who goes where. Originally I was thinking Peachey 13 with Ese'ese on the bench but having Ese'ese start and then having Peach on for some spark (which I haven't seen terrible amounts of) might have something to it.

Also sorry @Huge got lazy throughout the week and forgot to make a 1-17 for you so here's an analysis of theirs.

I'll keep a close eye on the losses and gains for next year when it's truly finalised. I don't see how anyone could label the bench named earlier 'dodgy'. Lisone, Proctor and Fermor go okay and both Lisone and Fermor still have improvement left in them. Joliffe has been pretty damn good this year and I think he will be better for his 2020's experience. Even Peach has ripened lately (grandad joke). Considering the Titans have more forwards unmentioned competition will be strong.

I do actually see what he means with the bench, realistically Proctor doesn't offer much offensively so wouldn't in my opinion be of much use on the bench. If he was needed to come on to tighten up the defence we'd be in a sorry state. Fifita and Tino have both proven capable to play 80 mins so more than one 2RF on the bench just doesn't appeal to me personally. Other than that though they have proven a capable bench this season apart from possibly Peachey who has looked better since starting in recent times.

I think everyone is going to be dissapointed by a Titans team just squeeking into the 8 next year.
I think they'll find themselves in a Newcastle situation, can't/won't live up to the hype of new signings.

Admittedly it's not a bad situation to be in compared to us.

**** them. Have hated them from day one and the hate has intensified.

Probably my favourite game that I've been to was a playoffs match in 2009 and we beat the Titans 40-32 at the Titans home. We had a "Broncos section" behind the goal but it extended to the outskirts of it as well, it was so loud that night in that area.
Lol
Lol, a Titans thread..
We are in the worst season of our history and still on the same points as the Titans, with all that separates the two teams being +/-.
Countless ex-broncos on big money at the Tits and the only half decent one has been Arrow, who is packing up and leaving anyway.
Yep, massive congrats on the Fifita singing. Keep rolling out the 'he isn't there for the money', but just remember he rejected (from memory) 2 offers, 900k and 1.1m?
At 1.25m a year, I think anyone would go to the Tits, I know I sure would.
I reckon the Tits should go after Milf, would compliment Taylor nicely in the halves I would think.
Lol

Wouldn't Cartwright need another club to sign him though?

I'd imagine he's still got pay cheques coming from the Titans unless there's some mutual agreement to terminate or suspend his contract and he's down there with no income...
Lol

Gotta admit the Titans forward pack has some exciting times ahead if they can secure a solid hooker.
Friend will be retiring at seasons end should the Roosters win the comp. Hasn't been announced but the injuries have taken their toll, I can't see him relocating.

I honestly think they should go for Macca, he’s exactly what they need.

Nah, I think they need to go for something with a bit more freshness and excitement if they aren't signing Friend.

Bring back Matt Parcell to QLD? I haven't seen how he's doing these days, but I miss him. He could have been a very similar hooker to Damien Cook.

Personally I would only recruit Opacic if he was on a bottom dollar contract... Even then.. There are better options out there.

Like who?

Just personal preference. These are out of the guys that are in NRL but.. I'd probably be able to find a few in Q cup that I'd prefer over Opacic.
