I'm in the minority here but I just don't rate drinkwater that highly. He seems like a Moylan, he's kinda ok in a few different spots but not he's not particularly outstanding in any of them, often being shifted to accommodate better players.

Getting rid of Lodge would be stupid.

It's very difficult to play well on one leg. When he's healthy, he's a bloody good prop who takes a lot of pressure off Haas which results in Haas putting in barnstorming performances like he was in 2019.

When you play well, your value goes up. That's the way it works.

Pissing him off to sign some fringe forward is just crazy.

i think thats yet to be determined....can he justify his salary in this new 6-again era? The jurys out but im prepared to give him the chance to show he can cut it in the current NRL system..

I think it's quite silly that I keep reading comments about him being half injured and to forgive him for that. I don't care, no thanks.

Even if we offload Lodge for cap reasons, we'll still be paying for him for the next couple of years.

So let's say we offload him and only pay half of his contract (which is unlikely we'll be paying that low of an amount) and sign Collins, who is now a State of Origin representative which means his value also goes up. We'll be offloading Lodge for Collins and still be paying for Lodge and not have any money left.

Not a good move either way.

I think if we pushed the issue, we could get him. Holmes is their fullback going forward and they have the Hammer waiting in the wings as well. They have Morgan and still have Clifford at the moment plus they are chasing Benji. They also have Asi who looked promising. Their cap is worse than ours, they literally have very little room to move so i think he is actually a realistic option.

I rather take Asi, I believe he was a North’s junior?

Why would we have to pay half of Lodge's contract? Surely there is a club out there dumb enough to pay his full wage? No?

Yeah until I knew Allan was gettable. If Allan isn't gettable, I am happy to get Drinkwater but I have stated all along, I see Drinkwater as a stop gap, not a long-termer.

Would prefer Allan, think his ceiling is higher.

That being said, Drinkwater isn't a bad second option - 19 try assists in 16 games in 2020 playing on a putrid team. Certainly a good player. Only 1 year older than Allan also.

I think people are quick to forget how good Lodge was when he didn't have a broken leg that he was forced to play on.

I’m a Lodge apologist but I honestly don’t think he was ever that good. Definitely not 700k for a prop level good.
