800k offer from the bulldogs wtf. I haven't even seen 650k yet.

With that news, I'd be more inclined to release Lodge.

I think Lodge is a better player currently, but you'd like to assume that Flegler will be the better player in a couple of years time. We can't afford to be paying 3 props that sort of money.

Moral of the story, all our guys are over exposed due to channel 9 games, so we constantly get ridiculous offers from other teams, like Fifita for example. Makes it an unfair battle ground despite our perceived advantages.
If you let most of them go though you weaken the other teams salary cap position. Just gotta be selective. With Haas and Lodge he is a bench frontrower so why not let another club pay 800k and sign a cheap hardworking frontrower. Sure they may not be quite as good but you've saved 500k to improve elsewhere. (FR doesn't need to be a stacked position imo)

Depends if you can get rid of Lodge I guess but he's signed for a long time including PO's.

Tom Flegler contract extended by two years: estimated $650,000 a year.

you gotta love that word "estimated" from Badel.

translation ... we don't know what he's on, but that sounds like a nice round number.

if that number is accurate, then not a great start Kevvie, at this stage he is a 500k prop at best

some quotes:

Flegler says:

“I could have made a lot more money elsewhere, however I trust my agent and I want to be a one-club player at the Broncos,” Flegler said.

“Brisbane signed me as a 15-year-old and I want to repay their faith and the loyal fans who have stuck by us.
“I want to just want improve as a player.

“I am looking forward to being coached by ‘Kevvie’ (Walters).”

Coach Kevvie says:

“It’s excellent news for us,” he said.

“Tom is a wonderful young player and he has been a part of our Queensland Emerging Origin program.

“Tom is on the way back from a shoulder operation but he has an enormous future. I am looking forward to working more closely with him.

“Tom is a very good young prop. He has probably lacked a bit of confidence, but he is physical and loves the tough stuff which is an attitude you need in the position he is playing.

“Like everyone else this year, Tom was below his best, but I have no doubt he is a future Origin player.”

If the flegler report is true (i mean it is badel), it shows that despite all the reviews we are continuing to make the same mistakes and have learnt nothing about roster management.

For all the "business" people we have in our organisation, they have no understanding of return on investment.

650k for Flegler is absolute lunacy. What universe are these people living in when they negotiate these contracts?? No wonder our cap is fucked.

That number better bet highly inflated. Yuck

Which company is Flegler managed by?

I don't disagree with the sentiment but you look at Tino v Fifita. Both look about as promising as each other, though Fifita gets exposed almost every week. Guess which ones goes at a higher price.

Look at Staggs, he looks great but I'd argue on par with Bradman and slightly ahead of Lomax but guess which ones is getting the big offers rolling in? There is a premium that comes with our players because everyone sees them week in and week out and then couple this with a truly bottom draw side, anyone half decent really does stand out even more.

I am happy Flegs is staying, he could be excellent BUT he currently is just potential, he has absolutely no runs on the board whatsoever, isn't even close to Collins for example (yes I know he is younger) but which one has the offers rolling in and pushing his value up.

This is also exacerbated by the fact our management is totally and utterly incompetent and hasn't wrapped these guys up before they become available.

Also he's just assuming that Flegler is being upgraded on his apparent $600k contract.

I think I recall the $600k but then a source on here said it wasn't that high. It is the value that is chucked on the NRL contracts website, but I don't think i trust that site all that much

wait until we find out that the remaining years on Haas’ contract are player options.

Hence why I keep saying he is also off to the Titans.

I love it, now re-sign Dearden and Staggs! Obviously it's less than $650k if you believe Badel's estimate you're more deluded then he is!!

I bet the 650k is Badel bullshit. No way was any club offering Flegler 800k, so if he could have made more elsewhere he's probably more likely on like 500k
