Harder than it is with an extra five hundred grand, certainly.

I can't believe we're still judging the kid for this. It's not like it was an extra fifty thousand or something. Blame the Titans, if you're going to blame anyone.

If players want to take the money, that's there right ... and i couldn't say for sue, that i wouldn't have done the same ...

but just once, i would love to see a player come out and say the offer was too good to refuse, instead of all these clichés and spin that everyone knows is BS

What's the benefit, for you or for him, if he does? It doesn't change your opinion of him, only confirms it, and meanwhile he comes off as a money hungry mercenary to fans of his old team and his new team.

I do get where you're coming from, but it just doesn't logically make sense.

Because recent performance suggests that the club stuffed it. In any case, a competent club would have put a time frame on him re-signing and if he didn't move on, ala the Roosters with Mitchell.
Yeah, totally agree with the bolded

I’m happy to blame both but I think the ‘kid’ that developed and bailed out of a Bali prison not even a year earlier can have a far amount of the blame. He can dry his tears with 100 dollar notes.

I blame the club. If we had anyone with any talent people would want to play for us but we don't. On current form and potential I'd say we are the least attractive team in the comp to play for at the moment. We are a complete basket case.

Long gone are the days where we had most of the QLD / Australian team.

I'll blame the NSWRL thank you very much

First off, you contract yourself in this sentence, when you say "you can't make him sign a contract", then you say "you can coerce him"

short of taking him out back and holding a gun to his head until the contract is signed, the only way to coerce David Fifita was MONEY.

I suppose we could have tried forging his signature on the contract, like the Titans did with Roberts
No I didn’t contradict myself and you gave an example.
Making by holding a gun or coercing with money.

But you are missing my point. I am saying I believe there was a time he was gettable and we were complacent, slack or asleep at the wheel and above all else we should take note to never ever let it happen again.

Happy for you to think otherwise, so not going to make my point any clearer.
Frustrating times indeed.

really if it took any more than what was offered to him to get him to sign we would be just setting ourselves up for more salary cap pain down the road.

On problem I see with signing him is that imo he is a lock. We already have Carrigan so he would be signing to play front row which I think isn’t his best position
You could play carrigan as a prop. I still think that would be his best position. With Haas, Asiata and carrigan you have potentially an 80 minute front row (not that you would use them that way, and Kevin has already talked about reducing minutes for Haas).
But if you got starters with long minutes in them, an injury can dealt with much more effectively, provided you have a versatile bench.

Is Asiata even much of an upgrade on Offa? More skill I guess but it doesn’t fill me with excitement. Better than nothing I suppose, and adds a different dimension.
I think Asiata can be one of those guys that brings a different dimension to our attack and I've never thought he was a guy that looked lazy on the field.

I doubt he's looking for a huge contract... would probably be cheaper than Offa eventually... and he's not a guy that will take 18 hit ups for 160m, but we already have those guys.

He could be a little like Dunamis has been for the raiders. Solid option in the middle on a good contract, but he also has some footy smarts and seems quite mobile.

The only concern I could have is defence and if he's mobile enough in the middle, but I've not really paid any attention to his defence to know if it's an issue.

What I do know is Offa is a massive liability in defence... hs always gets stuck lying around the ruck leaving us a marker down. He also looked lazy covering the middle, in the roosters try where Liu busted through the middle you can see Offa plodding along not covering Haas' inside shoulder... and it's not like he can say he was fatigued because he came off the bench and it might've been straight after halftime??

Basically if Asiata can be mobile enough to defend the middle then I think his attack speaks for itself. I think he can also do more minutes just hasn't been given the opportunity at cows.

He could be considered a lite version of Jurbo or James Graham.. in that he's a playmaking prop in the middle of the field. Question marks would be on Asiata's defence (only because I haven't paid attention, but just needs to be solid), stamina (untried more than anything) and if he can take some tough carries, which I think he does, but nothing spectacular. Jurbo doesn't really run it, he just picks his moments

I'm just glad I don't have kids yet. I grew up with the Broncos being a power house with Lockyer, Tallis, webcke, Petro etc. Some of those teams from the 90s -2010 had more stars than we have had in the team in a decade. Tell me that the 2009 Broncos team wouldn't beat the best Broncos team of 2010-2020.

But it is happening again. Right now (until confirmed in Flegler's case), Flegler, Staggs, Dearden and Coates are all OFFICIALLY available to other clubs. Yes, yes I know that November 1 doesn't mean anything in terms of unofficial talk between managers / clubs, etc but here we are, 4 of our best youngsters currently open to legal offers from other clubs. The Broncos management do not seem to have learned anything at all. Yes, they might all re-sign but how inflated will their prices now be if they do?

Badel, it's an article in the CM.

$650,000 a year for a bench prop... wow..

Great start Kev...

Deadset, when the heck can we get new management? That is a horrendously bad decision.

Let's put it in perspective, our best and only current origin prop is our LEAST paid and BY FAR! TPJ, Lodge, Flegler and Joffa are all on more than Haas.

We will probably pay the Tigers more to have Joffa play for them than we are paying our one true star forward, absolute stupidity.

But then yes, it is Badel, so take it with a grain of salt.
