The Dragons won't win the title but they will be up to their necks in it this year unless there are injuries, I'd have them in that second rung now under the Panthers, Storm, Roosters and Rabbits.
So far that looks the case. We do know form slumps can creep in but they are definitely second tier with Cronulla, Titans, Canberra etc

Just goes to show how fucked our recruitment and retention is. I hope the first thing new ceo does is sack Peter Nolan and anyone who has had anything to do with our recruitment over the past decade or so
Was Darren Lockyer a part of that?

I think his role is to lead up the recruitment and retention division, though I could be wrong. In any case, I am pretty sure he is heavily involved in it.

I think the ex players thing is a bit overblown. No doubt Hook pushed for them but all three are bargain basement prices. Birds braining it, Macca reliably keeps things moving and well controlled and now an extra forward with proven form. It looks like everyone in that club is going to have a better season than I.

I couldn’t believe people were looking at thats Dragons team and being so sure they’d win the spoon. No idea where that media push came from but so many seemed to pile on.

Guys like Macca and Hunt’s biggest criticisms is that they are middle of the road players who won’t win a premiership. A team full of these guys don’t get spoons. They finish mid table and if they scrape into finals, they fall immediately, but they don’t get spoons.

throw money at hynes and smith.
Why... not sold on Brandon but I’m saying that people using the not fit enough excuse need to realise he is built to play lock not hooker... and couldn’t agree more with you about Hynes but he should be worth **** all, there’s no reason to throw money at him, just a small contract for him (value wise)

If the club are serious about making a splash I would be submitting the following deals
Papenhauzen 4 year for 6 million
Reynolds 3 years 2.8 mill
Wow.

Pap's biggest strength is his support play, who in the Broncos is going to create opportunities for him? I think Ponga would be worth more to the Broncos.

And you want to sign Reynolds on almost a million a year, who's own club that he captains won't even entertain a 2 yr deal...Reynolds is already a shocking defender, and doesn't create much. He has an elite kicking game, and is decent enough at controlling a side. He is turning down a 1 year deal worth 700k because he wants longevity, and your bright idea would be to give 3 years AND a bigger amount. If you were stupid enough to offer Reynolds a 3yr deal, it shouldn't be more than 1.5-1.7 at the absolute most.

Just on the whole Lockyer thing.

Wayne Gretzky “is” the greatest hockey player of all time by a country mile but he was an average coach. Sometimes these guys who’re insanely talented and see the game better then anyone can suck at identifying these traits in others.

TBH most of the time it's rare to be an elite coach/head office guy and an elite player.

What Lockyer does in the front office, while it annoys me, will never detract from what he did as a player.

I wouldn't sack Lockyer, get to training and actually help. He's useless as an executive.

I reckon this is achievable:

1. Hammer/Farnworth
2. H.Hunt
3. Farnworth/Gagai
4. Opacic
5. Coates
6. Staggs
7. Reynolds/SJ (c)
8. Lui
9. Turpin/Paix
10. Lodge/Flegler
11. Capewell
12. Riki
13. Pangai Jr

14. Paix/Hetherington
15. Bullemor
16. Carrigan
17. Piakura

This is for next year, still a work in progress but looking a lot better.

Haas dont get a run?

i wonder if there’s any chance Coates goes to the Titans. If they have the money for Staggs, they have the money for Coates and he did come through their feeder club and supported them.
If not the broncos, I think storm or Titans for sure.
Staggs, I think he will stay. We will give him the money.
Dearden, I sort of get the vibe that he’s gone.

Watching the Dragons carve up with these ex-Broncos in their side is going to be a very very hard watch for me, given nearly all of them were players we developed

The way they beat Parramatta, they do that every week they will be hard to beat every week

I don’t mind if we lose them, I just hope the club puts deadlines on them soon so we don’t miss out.

If Coates goes give his money to B Moz.. if Coates and Dearden go, go all out at try to get a halves combo of 7ARey 6.SJ for 700k each

The guy ended up having to testify as to why a company he was part-owner of and on the board of went under, owing workers 10s of millions of dollars.

He’s now trying to set up mines and and a power station in PNG that is meeting heavy opposition from locals, through a company he is the business affairs manager of, full of despicable mining consortium dirtbags that has teamed up with a Hong Kong (read: China) mining company

I love him in a Broncos and Queensland jumper, he is the greatest player in my opinion, but I trust and respect Lockyer the person (now anyway) about as much as I could throw him, particularly when it comes to running the club
