THE COACH Kevin Walters

I actually think they have three weapons in Pangai Jr, Oates and Coates. If you create the space for them the points will come. I think Coates in particular is suffering because they think he's Israel Folau 2.0 when I think he's much better running the ball.

Seems like that is what happened last night. I agree with Walters when he said it has taken 7 weeks to achieve what we showed last night. His experiments with our halves have paid off, if last night's result is anything to go by. Even our edge defence was a lot better. Also we have more weapons than just TPJ, Oates and Coates. Herbie looks to be coming into his own as well, and Haas just keeps the momentum going.

All we need now is back to back wins. Can't wait for next week.

I dunno if a lot of last night's result was down to Kev.......

In some ways, I think he's gotten lucky. Though....a lot to do with being successful can be an ounce of luck at the right time. We'll see I guess. I do feel like this is the break he needed to find something to build on....

Their confidence is/was shot......thats not something you can just easily make disappear.

Said it from the start, there must be a reason no club wanted Kevvie. He was hired purely to keep the Old Boys and foxsports from writing negative articles.

His selections, releasing of certain players, and his bench rotation is fucking horrible. His only chance of success is at rep level where being passionate can get you so far.

Agreed. KW has been brought in as a caretaker coach for 2 years on a budget contract compared to Seibold and will oversee a rebuild. It will appease ex players and a large percentage of the fan base. The club fully expect him to fail. If in the extremely unlikely event he manages to turn things round next season then maybe he gets another 12 months.

I'm not saying they don't deserve it but I just wish he wasn't so trigger happy with dropping players, it makes it mean less when someone does get dropped and they thoroughly deserve it (such as Isaako after tonight).

Corey Oates didn't deserve to be dropped.

His changing of the halves every second game is what hurts my brain.

To be fair the Milford reappearance last week was forced by Gamble’s suspension. He and Kelly will see out the season unless it happens again, but I hope we throw Asiata at 6 if one of them is out

We've conceded 40+ points more times so far this season then we did all of last year.

That is unacceptable.
We’ve also won the same amount of games as last year in fewer attempts.

if we didn’t have the roosters W a few weeks ago I’d be doubting Kevvie a bit more but that showed what we can do.

Conceding these points sucks but is more likely in the multivlandysball crapshoots we’re playing this year.

I think he coaches too much based on passion and emotion instead of getting the game plan and structures right. Could be the added responsibility of being a head coach isn't for him because he seemed capable when he was an assistant.

It's a real shame because he is a thoroughly decent bloke who clearly loves Brisbane and is doing the best he can for us. I don't think anyone want him to fail.

We all want Kevie to success her. He has the passion and belief in the Broncos and its what we need as a young team, but he needs help. Better assistant coaches first. Our defence structure needs a complete overhaul. Always out of position and overlaps when opposition are in our 20 even when Isaako depends in the line. We arent numbering up and sliding idk. I feel we are going to concede each time.
His selections and rotation is questionable. Asiata needs more time at 13 he offers most in attack. Then we have Kobe and bullie who imo are more locks with no ball playing ability so why are both in the team. Need another prop on the bench instead.
Need to focus on our spine and not recruit others. We clearly lack a 1 and 9 yet we get brenko and want sun cakewalk gagai. We have heaps of options in those positions. Turpin is not the answer. Im not a fan of hodgson but he would be better than Turpin. But I would go after B Smith first. If only we started Walsh at FB at start of year I reckon we would be doing alot better and if we were smart with recruitment, kept Fifita and Reynolds and we would be top4

Wasn't this what Matterson and Cartwright were bought in for? I am not saying Kevvie is a great coach but he is coaching a bunch of morons, that's hard work.

I still don't think we are as bad as we are showing. When you are poor in defence, you concentrate on fixing that first. I'm not seeing it. Can't say i know much about the coaching ability of Matherson and Carty if I'm honest.

I do agree with you we have some players who just seem to do dumb shit way too much.

Let it not be forgotten that he's Coaching a worse roster than the one that just put in one of the historically poorest performances in modern NRL history.
