Kevvie imo wasnt employed as coach because he was the best option for the job, he was put in charge because of the outside noise of the old boys.
he prevented Green getting the job, so it's a win for me

If Kevvie wasn’t the best option then who was? I’m scratching my head as to who else was available and a realistic chance of coming here that had better credentials than Walters?Kevvie imo wasnt employed as coach because he was the best option for the job, he was put in charge because of the outside noise of the old boys.

The huge gamble and unknown that comes with being a foreign Coach easily brings Wane back to the same viability as Walters at the time.Shaun Wane
although, we had to go Kevvie IMO, given he outside noise from the old boys

I’m not suggesting the Old Boys thing wasn’t part of it too, but I do think of the realistic options available he was still the best we could get or thereabouts.
Well Bellamy isnt coming to Broncos.

What really sucks is Turpin has regressed too. Danny fucking Levi of all players is giving him a rest9. Turpin - shit
1. Isaako - shit
6. Croft/MILF - Shit
7. Dearden - shit
There's your answer.

I would say it's related to line speed, weak or uneven line speed allows the opponents halves to spread the ball wide and attract 2 on 1s so the outside defenders are powerless.Yeah I can somewhat forgive the attack. Round 1 Milf was playing on both sides and linking with his co-half. Some good shapes but I think Kev has purposefully simplified things to the absolute basic level and guys still aren’t able to follow it. This may be why our attack is so one dimensional - because the players are struggling to execute even our current overly simplified strategies. For me the jury is still out on this.
A concern is definitely the defence. Yea, he is working with gumbies but the right side has been swapped so much and not shown any improvement.
The right side has looked like: several combinations of the following:
4th in defender: Riki, TPJ
3rd in: Milf, Croft
2nd in: Niu, Kennar, Mead, Farnworth
Wing: Coates, (Farnworth half a game)
The only constant has been Coates on wing and Isaako at fullback. So who is to blame for the horrendous right side defence?
Is it structural? Are all the players just terrible? Is Coates the issue? Is Isaako not communicating the numbers?
I think it’s obviously all of the above to some extent. Though Boyd was back there and things were no better with the “games best defensive communicator”.
It’s obviously just speculation but I’d find it hard to believe that this teams’ defence would be this bad under Bennett. I’m not sure what the answer is.
One of the issues is the Broncos lack direction with the football. They don't have a David Fifita, James Tedesco, Ryan Papenhuyzen etc. to play to so a lot of their sets is merely getting to tackle five and if they can't barge their way over they'll kick and hope for Coates. I actually think they have three weapons in Pangai Jr, Oates and Coates. If you create the space for them the points will come. I think Coates in particular is suffering because they think he's Israel Folau 2.0 when I think he's much better running the ball.I agree with most of your post pete. The focus of the majority of the comments in this thread have been in the quality of the squad which are all relevant but Kevvies coaching is leaving me a little underwhelmed.
We are still doing one off ruck hit ups which is fine at certain times and field positions but we have zero creativity or variation.
Nothing comes off our half, not even a simple drop under.
Lodge needs to not ball play, ever, except for an offload in a tackle.
We dont have any shape inside said 20.
Putting it through the hands every time is simply not Nrl standard.
Even our flat runners telegraph they are decoys because they slow down at the line. They should be running through the line to provide an option and keep the D interested.
Bombing To' o was one of the few times we look like we had a part of a plan.
This is all coaching basics, so whilst Kevvie has excuses for the squad he doesn't for our style and our attacking purpose.
Then there is the D which us just as confused.
It all about progression. If we don't keep moving forward even when we are losing games in terms of our structures, defence etc games like last night will mean nothing at all. We need to show the same resilience as well every game. At the moment, we take one step forward then 2 or 3 backward. Consistency in our team selection is going to go a long way to helping us.Kev’s game plans are starting to show and he appears to have a certain idea based on each opponents strengths.
The way he coach To’o and now Fifita out of the games, maybe the 2 most damaging players in the game right now, was very impressive. It does give you hope that with decent cattle to execute the plans there is some promise there.
His bench use was great again last night, maybe could’ve had Turpin come back in in the end to stop the fight back but Levi wasn’t too bad.
Definitely. Hopefully the team is mostly settled now bar injury. We’ll see how Milford and Gamble back up but for the first time this year we have a few winnable games in a row, even if we don’t win hopefully some confidence and momentum can build before we inevitably get destroyed by roosters and Melbourne in a few weeks time.It all about progression.
