Brandon Wakeham is looking for a club. A Queenslander and 22 years old.. Has a decent kicking game and knows how to run the ball.

Could do worse than him as a back up for if Adam Reynolds goes down next year.

He could potentially play 6 too if he performed well in the pre season.

He wouldn’t cost more than 200k in my opinion.

Losing Niu wouldn't be the end of the world, be nice to keep him though. He has done well this season.

I think they view Cobbo as the future fullback, just a matter of giving him the time he needs to develop into being an NRL player

Let it go bro, the White monstrosity is over.
The player salaries still hanging over our cap suggest otherwise. It's telling how bad it got under that fool that even though White left in February after effectively checking out 12 months before that, we're still going to be paying the contracts that he signed off on for players no longer playing for us until basically the middle of this decade.

After seeing that video of Gutho swearing at his teammates he can get fucked
Seems to be a real cultural issue there. Moses is one of the worst at blowing up at his own team.

Maybe a new club and less of a leadership role might do him good -
He seems to have got too comfortable at Parra.

I’d be happy with him because he is a gun but I really don’t like his public persona. Seems like a real flog. You never know how he is off the field though. Hopefully next year makes the discussion redundant and we sign Smith and Manu to play 9 and 6 in 23:

The Eels have built their club in recent years on the back of recruiting misfits and outcasts. I would expect this sort of thing from Parra’s spine. I don’t think Moses would change much regardless of what club he is at. He fits in at Eels in my opinion.

Sure the White years have and will continue to cripple us for years to come but it doesn’t mean new signings under this current regime are going to be like that. In fact they’ve reportedly already shown themselves to be far more successful and astute with who is coming in and not on massive overs.

This is just a line up I’d enjoy watching next year.. This team is pretty cool, I wouldn’t even mind if we lost because I like all the players in there. The squad is definitely improving. Keen to see what they come up with for next year.

Your last paragraph appears to be the plan for Piakura.

I would suggest that the downside of that is you may only get 18 months of value out of them before they will then start commanding more money due to their form.

Piakura is signed to 2024, but he could spend next year in reserve grade getting paid top 30 money and not become an NRL starter until 2023... suddenly 2024 rocks around and he's looking for an extension or possibly looking to make some money (basically what happened with Fifita).

In the case of Burton there was heavy pressure on the Panthers to release him early so in that sense they would've basically got zero value out of a promising junior that they brought all the way through.

It makes it seriously hard to develop and retain talent.

The alternative is you sit and hang back like the roosters until you have a position that needs filling and then cherry pick guys that you want until you land on something that works.

In like the last 5-7yrs they've poached or cherry picked Nikorima, Hastings, Keary, Cronk, Flanagan and Walker... and apparently they also went after Dearden before he re-signed with us, which was lucky for him, because he probably would've been at centrelink by now if he went there.
Don’t forget Crichton and Suaalii off Souths.

But gees they do a good job of developing their own…

I honestly can't believe that needed to be explained, incredible

I was thinking that, but thought I would limit myself to just the halves instead of a top 30 of players poached over the last 5-7 years!!

bottom 8 side.

Kobe isn't a hooker
Piakura isn't a center
Willison is no where near ready to start.
Staggs should (and is likely to at this stage) stay at center

Croft exploring other options/SL. I’m all for it, but if he is actively looking that should mean the Broncos don’t chip in anything. I wouldn’t be against chipping in 100k but pretty rough for him to say he wants to look elsewhere and then expect the Broncos are going to chip in for his salary. Yes I get its happened here previously but it‘d be nice for us to stop paying these clowns to play elsewhere.
Hopefully he goes to SL and we pay $0
