PLAYER Payne Haas

Rarely I agree with Buzz.

But on the cost of living and house prices, they are insane in Syd. In Jan, they hit 1.6mil for a median house in Sydney - literally double Bris. A good house in Syd, is even worse.

Add that to the extra tax, agent fees, et al. He's FAR worse off in Sydney on a $1mil / year than in Bris on $800k next year.
He might get more capital gain on his owned property in Sydney, so this Isn’t necessarily true in the long run.

And he's unlikely to get a million in Sydney anyway.

Sydney's had huge growth - we're now going to see interest rates rise which are going to mean a solid reduction in gains at the very least, particularly in those well overcooked like Sydney.

LOL. I've been saying that since the 80's when I baulked at buying a beachfront flat in Bronte.

Sydney is also more expensive because there are more things to spend money on. It's not a good argument to say it's more expensive because you need more money so you can have more fun.

Spot on, Payne will be worse off.
His leech manager and posse however, will not be.

Imagine the scenes at the Payne household, when he's playing at the dogs for a slight bump in his contract, paying his new management more money than his old management and has been run out of town in Brisbane.

Probably also has a fairly sizeable legal bill coming his way for taking his old management through the courts... I'd imagine that decision was Nasser's as well, and was purely a way for him to get in with Haas in the first place.

Judging by the aggression he has shown in general especially against women I would fear for his partner.

With all the drama surrounding Payne Haas and a potential release, I think we shouldn’t be releasing him without getting 1-2 players in return from different clubs.

Who would you be trying to trade Haas with from each club. (Please keep the answers realistic e.g don’t name Tedesco, Turbo, etc)

i’m basing the order of the list on the current ladder:

Panthers> JFH (won’t happen).
Storm> Munster
Cowboys> Drinkwater and Cotter
Roosters> Keary (Prefer Sam Walker but no chance)
Eels> Matterson & Dyl Brown
Sharks> Brailey & Talakai
Rabbits> Latrell or Cook
Raiders> Savage and Tapine
Manly> none. Hate em.
Dragons> none
Warriors> Walsh & Josh Curran
Knights> none
Titans> Brimson or Jayden Campbell + cheap forward
Tigers> Laurie & Douehi
Dogs> Burton + a forward

I don't think we really need anyone from another team personally. That's more about getting value out of Haas wanting out.

In a perfect scenario somebody would pick up his entire contract and we would use that room in the cap to retain some of guys we already have.

Having another superstar would be nice, but I don't think it's as essential as people make it out to be. Melbourne for the most part don't go out and buy superstars to replace superstars for example. They promote from within. And when they buy established players it doesn't always work for them. George Rose, Tom Lehroyd Lars, Xavier Coates etc

I don’t think we really need another superstar player if Haas goes, though if there was one available in the 1 or 9 role you would be mad to miss out.

Yeah, but to a certain extent. No player currently available is better than what is working for us currently. Martin may not be the best fullback in the league for example, but neither is Dylan Edwards at Penrith yet it works for their team and how they play.

I agree regarding currently available. Martin is good but I’d take RTS in a heartbeat and shift Martin to 6 if it were possible

These Payne Haas Threads are getting a bit toxic.

I know we are all pissed off, and rightly so but it's a bit heavy going in here
100%. And people made a mockery of Boyd saying it's only a game, he had to make comments like that because if players actually read the shit fans wrote, they'd be in pretty dark places.

I'd like to keep him on his current contract. If he's changed his mind on being a greedy ****, I hope he stays, if he wants 1m, see ya.

There's probably like 5 players in the NRL who are worth a million, certainly no one at our club.
