Weren't all these signings under his watch? I'm sure he was pressured into signing a few high profile players but at the end of the day he is the head coach and has to assume full responsibility for that component.

With that said, the Gold Coast are so far behind other clubs it's going to take more than a good head coach to turn the place around. They need years of success off the field to build a proper foundation and get the talent through.

The biggest cause for concern heading into the season was that Isaako and W. Smith both found themselves in crucial positions in the team. That shouldn't happen and you really ought to be bringing through better talent by now.

I get the impression Holbrook doesnt have a big say in recruitment. I think Mal decides who they chase and he has to go along with it.

If that's true he should re-sign and have some balls though, no sympathy because he's either responsible, or he's too weak to be an effective head coach.

I guess it depends if he took on the role knowing that. If he did he knew what he was letting himself in for so he cant complain if the balance of the roster isnt right. I'd say he has some input, but i always get the impression Mal is the driving force for them.

Mal has been awfully fucking quiet this year.... actually he's been pretty fucking quiet for a long time now... is he hiding behind the toilets looking for his next star signing??

Him and Gordie were very vocal about Fifita. Why aren't they defending him now?

Don't get me wrong, no sympathy for Fifi collecting 1.1m this year but I'm pretty sure at least Gordie said he'd look after him but he's been through media hell this year. Titans have (predictably) ruined him.

Clearly he's not happy there but hey, I'd do pretty much anything for $1.1M/yr so I don't blame him. And when he's gonna get paid regardless of how well he plays.......

It's going to be full blown NRL central along Caxton St... if it wasn't already.

Caxton is basically the unofficial pub for broncos and qld, I believe Hotel LA is flagging themselves as dolphins, and now NRL have moved in and bought up Gambaro's.

It could be a positive sign of intentions in regards to Magic Round staying at Suncorp with the NRL buying a pub 50m from the current stadium.

Kent just came right out and said the 6 again rule needs to be "exterminated" from the game.

I don't like to give him too much credit, but it's on the agenda now. If the NRL is going to be kneejerk about anything, let it be this.

He loved it though when he hammered QLD in origin. He only hates it now is because it cost his best mate Ricky.

Lol two cheerleaders of the six again and one ref are now advocating that both should be gone hahaha

Rothfield is sniffing glue with the "ruck ref" idea. The other dickheads on the panel were smart enough to see it: Gough didn't miss shit in Sunday's game. He waved 6 again instead of blowing the penalty to let Canberra have a shot at 2 because the rule is a bullshit mess that confuses the **** out of everyone, including the referees.
