But yes, former Deputy Commissioner Paul Taylor made (allegedly) an unfortunate remark at a leadership conference where he implied a senior male (presumably) police officer suffered defensive wounds whilst forcing his (presumably) attentions on a female officer in order to somehow successfully progress through a selection board on his way to achieving a higher rank.

When these (alleged) comments were brought to light at the current Commission of Inquiry into Domestic Violence and address to the Commissioner (she / her) Mr Taylor felt it necessary to immediately resign his position, effective forthwith.
You've fingered (so to speak) the wrong bloke. Deputy Commissioner Taylor was the vagina whisperer comment speaking about a Gynecologist he knew (who apparently is known by all and sundry as the vagina whisperer).

It was then Superintendent Ray Rohweder, now Chief Superintendent Ray Rohweder who made the remarks you reference.

Just as an aside....why would you do that

throw up the white flag so quickly.?

Obvious guilt..... or some other reason?

They have to retire at 60, I would say he was very close to retirement age and just decided the angst was not worth it and retiring restores some of his honour. Personally, I think that line of attack by Counsel assisting the Commission was unfair in circumstances where the gentleman in question is well known by that name.

Agreed......I thought he had an argument.
I get the pot of gold that awaits him on retiring a clean skin.

Again ..digressing enough to notice,
its's not a good look for the male population in politics to roll over so easy. More claims of "offensive" misogynistic remarks will be prominent in the news......

The balance will shift........

Assistant Commissioners and above are appointed on contract by the Governor in Council. They can go beyond 60 as the Government of the day sees fit.

Only us plebs covered under the PSAA have the mandatory retirement at 60, thing.

If I had to speculate, I’d say he got a tap on the shoulder and advised his (very generous) contract would not be renewed or he faced dismissal so took the way out that gave him the most entitlements…

See my response to @lynx000

Suffice to say there is a long QPS history of officers resigning ahead of facing worse things, either disciplinary or criminal.

Both the guys parents are in Prison. He’s a professional athlete. Life would be hard in the spotlight. A big part of me feels sorry for him, no wonder he’s a bit of an idiot.

Tough, presumably highly emotionally charged parents. Dead brother. Parasitical managers. And the closest thing to an education would have been ‘take this ball run hard towards sticks’

Money doesn’t buy happiness, perspective does… trust me I’m loaded, and incredibly self aware 😂

The poor kid has like 7 siblings and who knows how many cousins, uncles, and aunties. They will all be looking at Haas to provide for them. It would be hard to put any club, especially a struggling one, over putting food on the table and a roof over the head of dozens of family members.

both his parents have been locked up, his brother passed away - if he earns enough money he could break the cycle for his kids, nieces and nephews.

What would you prioritise? You’r family or a football club? Your kids or strangers who call themselves fans?

It’s pretty hard to be mad at him.

Maybe they could have a go at providing for themselves…..then Payne wouldn’t have to look like an idiot asking for undeserved pay increase.
