The mother of Brisbane Broncos prop Payne Haas has been jailed for assaulting two security guards in a Gold Coast casino. Uiatu ‘Joan’ Taufua, 46, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday. The mother of nine punched one security guard in the face and spat on another guard’s cheek during an incident at The Star Casino on the Gold Coast in May this year, the court was told. Magistrate Ron Kilner sentenced Taufua to nine months imprisonment, with a parole release date of October 1 2022.​
