He wasn’t involved with coaching, he did the same role on the bench during Origin. That’s Walsh beside him in that photo- the Well being, education and integrity manager- he sure isn’t a coach.
Cartwright, Ballin and Matterson were in the box. Walters did the headset on the ground to ALF.

We didn't finish in the 8, sure, any other season we would have. Last season teams were in the 8 having lost more than they won.
he wasn't sacked and why the **** wouldn't he have communication with the box whilst on the sideline?

Someone's gotta relay the messages between the coaches and the on-field staff/players. It's not the kind of job you'd hire a whole extra person to do for 1.5 hours a week.
So he failed this year to get into the 8 which is a failure

You'd have to think it's a last chance type thing, we gave you a chance with your staff, now we'll pick you're staff and if you still fail your next.
He's still a former international and can be used, you can be a manager and do other roles. He doesn't coach but he's got a lot of experience and can be used relaying messages- Ponissi does it for the Storm and he's not on the coaching staff.
